Me and my friend went on one of these today, your meant to get an hours workout in 12 minutes.
Anyone else tried these? Im thinking of booking a block of them.

yes I have it was a good giggle. I think you need to go 3 times a week to see full benefits though which is expensive. Sticking to the gym and a bit of moving around.
Reckon it would be worth it if you had to tone up quickly for a bikini moment though.

I had four weeks before I got married of living with my mother and being away from my fiance (don't ask!) - I was so desperate to relax and get out of the house that I started going to the gym for the first time in my life. I did about 20 minutes on the treadmill and then used the Power Plate, following the instructions (didn't go to classes) and did about 20 minutes of weights. I did this three times a week for the 4 weeks, and I lost about a stone . It had to be the power plate - I had no idea what I was doing with the weights, I hate running with a passion and basically fast walked, and I wasn't eating healthily at all. (In fact, I got through a lot of beer that month - again, desperation to get out of the house resulting in many pub trips!) It was so drastic that I freaked out when I got on the scales about a week before the wedding and ended up thanking God my dress had an inner corset built in as otherwise it would have been too big.

So yes - I think it really works!

I am so tempted to buy one of these.

I have been on one several times and def felt it the next day. As with all of these kind of gimmicky things, you kind of need proof!

HerBeatitude · 18/05/2010 15:25

What are they?

ThreadKillerQueen · 18/05/2010 15:41

Vibro plate

Meant to make exercise more effective with vibration - so 10 minutes is supposed to burn 500 calories.

orangina · 18/05/2010 16:12

Just don't do it if you have a coil in (and don't want to get pregnant).....

ThreadKillerQueen · 18/05/2010 16:31

:-O

You are going to have to explain!

tulpe · 18/05/2010 17:31

I tried these once at the gym - gave me a headache

IndigoSky · 18/05/2010 17:32

I have one and have had it for about 3 years. They are really good. I run a lot too but I think the plate is good for extra toning.

Lizzylou · 18/05/2010 17:35

I use one at the gym, they are good, I use one for 10mins at the end of a workout. I know of one larger lady who lost 1.5stone in 1 month using the powerplate alone.

You are not allowed to use it if you have a coil, are pregnant etc, I had to sign a release form.

They are fab for going on after you've really had a hard gym/spinning/aerobics session, you don't ache the next day.

I have also noticed that my shoulders are more toned after doing press ups on it. Though that is wierd and makes your jowls wobble, but yo do get used to it.

IndigoSky · 18/05/2010 17:38

I think it's just the first month of having a coil that you shouldn't use it.

IndigoSky · 18/05/2010 17:42

Here's some blurb from the vibraplate website about who shouldn't use it...

"? Wearing a pace-maker
? Wearing recently fitted IUD?s, coils, metal pins, bolts and / or plates
? Acute Thrombosis
? Advanced stage osteoporosis
? Synthetic joints
? Cardiovascular disease
? Recent surgical intervention
? Pregnancy
"

My dh brought me one for my birthday last year. I used it for a bit but didn't notice any effects from using it. It's been collecting dust for the last few months!

Lizzylou · 18/05/2010 20:34

That's interesting Indigo, there is a woman rom spin class who always goes on the Powerplate aftr class (as do I) and she only ever does lunges as she thought it meant having a coil fitted in general. I will let her know.

lilacclaire · 18/05/2010 21:12

Good to know.
My 12 mins cost £4 and I can get a block of 7 for £20.
I have a coil, but the notice on the wall said only not to use if recently fitted.
I plan to go 4-5 times a week, im hoping to tone up and lose about 1/2 a stone.

I use it at the gym after a spin or body pump sesh, only do a short time on them. Tried doing sit ups and it nearly made me vomit-the vibration so intense when you lie on your back! however I tend to do press ups, squats, lunges, tricep dips. Think they are good for toning but I would combine it with aerobic exercise to get best benefits

orangina · 20/05/2010 17:20

Friend of mine has been going to p plate classes at the gym recently, and I told her she should be careful (she has mirena). So, she went to get checked out and.....

lo and behold, coil had gone.

Not pregnant though.

trumpton · 20/05/2010 17:50

Very expensive when I did it but had 1/2/1 instruction for 30 mins for £20. I had 12 sessions going 3 times a week so cost £200 but it really toned me up. Not sure that I would pay that much again tho'.
A friend bought her own professional power plate cost her oodles of money and I dont think she uses it much at all now.
