I have been given some serum for my skin to put on under moisturiser, it is very nice but what is its purpose in the old skin care routine?

Think it acts as a barrier for all the crap that hits your face in the day.I use the Origins one-love it!

I went to a Body Shop party a couple of weeks ago (PTA fundraiser) and the consultant there said that it moisturises the lower layers of skin, whereas normal moisturiser just does the top ones. Apparently

serum is fantastic if you need extra moisture and there are lots of ways to use it.If your skin is normal/oily you might find it useful under a night cream if you have one but possibly too much in the day under a moituriser so you could use the serum on its own as your day moisturiser.
If your skin is dry/mature you might use it under your moisturiser day and night.
Also you can use it seasonally so if your skin gets drier in winter you might want to add it into your routine then.
If your usual cream isnt quite doing the job like it used to a serum underneath can help.
