The dress with legging look - can you wear it if you're over 40?

I wore leggings with style back in the 80s when I was young. Now I'm 43, still have a pretty good figure (size 8) and good legs but don't want to look like mutton etc... And I'd hate it if someone thought 'oh, nice from the back' and then I turn round and scare them!

So, dress/tunic + leggings - yes or no for over 40s?

Yes its all about the dress you shouldn't need the leggings to make it look good it should be lovely on its own leggings is just another look like a belt or necklace.Vsimple dress with footless tights and beautiful shoes and makeup looks great.Agree re frills always a bit barmaid unless in teh bedroom

Yes, it's freezing! I started the day in some fab new charcoal suede ballerinas with tiny silver flowers, but my feet were in agony and blue with cold and now have sock and boots on! And a polo-neck under my dress!

SuSylvester · 15/05/2010 16:45

it takes a lot to get socks off me

janeite · 15/05/2010 16:46

Bet I'm the only one currently wearing socks with a quotation from The Smiths on them, though!

^Clary rapidly revises her opinion^

noddyholder · 15/05/2010 16:47

I had to resort to socks today too after spending last night doing my feet!

They are Italian ballerinas that are everywhere this summer in Paris - they are by Anniel. I have beige suede with white stars, charcoal suede with silver stars and some uber-trendy lace up white suede (still unworn). About 100 euros a pair.

Bonsoir · 15/05/2010 16:57

silver flowers, not stars

SuSylvester · 15/05/2010 16:58

i liek stars
and spots
and stripes

noddyholder · 15/05/2010 16:58

LOL @ Janeite. Smiths Best Band Ever so yr socks get my vote.

Wot's the Smiths quote then?

You lot are nesh, I haven't worn tights for about a month now apart from to interviews.

And socks only with trainers. Y'know, for training (footie or running etc).

janeite · 15/05/2010 19:08

Clary · 17/05/2010 10:21

janeite · 17/05/2010 17:48

I'm never quite sure if that is another line nicked from 'A Taste Of Honey' or not, I must admit.

pointydog · 17/05/2010 17:54

som epeople over 40 could wear it, yes.

Not a look I like

vintage · 17/05/2010 18:00

must be better then the fleece, boring jeans and t shirt right up to the neck look that loads of women wear every single day
