Hello.

I'm a Toast virgin, and my clothes mostly come from Ebay and the supermarkets. Mainly because I'm poor, overweight, have new and recent self esteem issues and have no where to go!
Time for a treat and a change - so I am leering over these
My size won't be in stock until the June, and it will take until then for me to get brave enough to spend the ££.

Soooo. Anyone got some? Are they good?

And does anyone know when Toast have a sale, or run discounts? I really want this too and would love any feedback on it.

TIA x

Am I missing something? I've just looked over the website and it seems very expensive for what it is. Are the clothes really good quality/organic/fair trade?

cyb · 14/05/2010 19:16

I like the style but fear they would go horribly baggy at knees, despite 'being bias cut for stretch' whatever that means

treedelivery · 14/05/2010 20:38

Hmmm, Yes 'bias for stretch' ?????????

I think the prices are ok tbh, as long as the items have a bit more about them than 'regular highstreet'. I was in Monsoon last week and spent the whole time doing faces at the prices. It was all so samey too.

I like that tunic as I like needlecord, and I love all the darts on the hems. I really want it, can you tell

Can't comment on those particular trousers but generally Toast is excellent quality and worth the money, imo.

treedelivery I agree with you about the prices in Monsoon. Tis terribly overpriced and the quality of finish is appalling.

treedelivery · 14/05/2010 20:51

Why don't you get some and report back

treedelivery I have two () needlecord tunics from Toast so can't justify buying any more and whenever I wear them people comment. They're incredibly well made (French seams not just finished with overlocking stitch) and will last you for ages. Toast are really expensive but the quality is very good indeed. And I do wear my needlecord tunics a lot so cost per wear is quite good.

treedelivery · 14/05/2010 21:14

Ooooh you are just the person I need then.

How do they fit across the chest? Are my norks going to fit?

Wouldn't you like to get some of those legging thingies and report back?

I bought a pair of the churidars but ended up selling them on ebay after one wear because they were no good.

I am a size 16 at Toast and their clothes do fit me incredibly well and are very nice quality. However the churidars, although well-made, were oddly baggy around the tummy and kept on falling down (I bought an L). They also made my legs look really stumpy - and my legs are actually quite shapely and skinny in comparison to the rest of me. I felt that leggings and jeggings are actually more flattering.

They don't usually discount the churidars in the sale. But otherwise the sale is a good one and well worth waiting for - though you have to hover on the website and order the moment it goes live as it all sells out in seconds.

treedelivery · 14/05/2010 21:26

Ooo that is good info HLaurens.

ANy idea when they have a sale? Are they due one?

veryconfusedandupset · 15/05/2010 11:16

They do have a sale twice a year, but they later than most of the others - the winter one is way into January before it starts. I love their stuff but can't afford the full prices. You can get bargains on ebay but it tends to make good prices second hand so if you do splash out you can always get some money back when you have finished with it. I have a lovely silk dress that I'm going to wear to a Buckingham Palace garden party in July.

wahwah · 16/05/2010 04:44

I'm sending mine back-I got tje navy ones and they look and feel as if they're made out of tissue paper. They promised so much, yet gave so little!

BunnyLebowski · 16/05/2010 09:21

Those trews are perfect for achieving this look

niminypiminy · 16/05/2010 09:26

Just reporting back on the tunics -- I find Toast sizes quite generous up top (I've got narrow shoulders but large bust) and have never had a problem with fit.

Toast sales are fantastic but you do have to wait a long time for them. If you're on their catalogue mailing list they send you a sale catalogue a few days earlier so you can work out what you're going to go for in advance.

AllBuggiedOut · 16/05/2010 14:50

I have the churidars in anthracite with the double layer tee in yellow/raspberry (I kid myself I look like the lady in the bottom photo...). I find the woven cotton tunics at Toast too bulky and boxy for me, same with the shift dresses. But the long jersey top is fab, and sizing pretty standard. The churidars are lovely and thin and will be lovely when it's boiling, but definitely need a long top over. They're very see-through! They don't go baggy at the knees as they don't really stretch much; that's my one complaint about them. I'd hoped to wear them on a long flight in the summer, but I think I might find them a bit restrictive 'cos of the lack of stretch. HTH! Oh, and there was a 20% off code in the Sunday Times a few weeks back (somebody put it on here) so worth checking for codes before you buy.

treedelivery · 16/05/2010 21:06

OOOo thanks everyone!

I am tempted to go for it, adn just see what happens. I guess I can always return them.

Thanks niminypiminy.

Thanks everyone, great info.
