Playsuit - yay or nay..

I have just tried this on in Debenhams (by default as I thought it was a top but tried it on anyway once I realised in the changing room).

playsuit

I liked it but it may be addled brain - lack of food etc before shopping, high dose anti biotics...

I tried it on with thick black tights (as that's what I'm wearing today) but was also thinking along the lines of leggings...my legs are too lumpy & pale at the mo to risk going bare!

Do what do you (honestly) think? Was thinking of wearing on Saturday for a gig with my DH, possibly with a denim jacket

And if you think it's OK - what shoes?

I have some V high platform blue/turquoise ones or these that might go

pumps

I won't be offended if it's a massive no-no!!

Do you think I'm a bit old/short/chubby?

I'm 32, size 14 & 5'3.75'' (the .75 makes a difference IMO

NO NO and thrice NO

they are for teens a dress over leggings would be better

you might wear it a couple of times this year but it is too on trend to last

BUT who am I to tell you what to wear?

CurbAppeal · 13/05/2010 14:09

Good Lord no- are you Margot from The Good Life?

HavingAnOffDAy · 13/05/2010 14:11

Haha, thanks both...LOL at Margot!!

I did think it would be a one hit wonder but was seduced by it being more flattering that I expected it to be...I'll look for a dress next time!

I quite like this spotty one

I have never tried one on though.

I think if you look good in it, then why not? Also a gig is the perfect sort of place to wear it IMHO!

I would wear heels, just not sure whether turquoise would go...

smallishsheep · 13/05/2010 14:22

I assume you are not a Von Trapp child?
If you are, then go right ahead. If not, then noooooo. Never ever ever.

Purplebuns · 13/05/2010 14:29

Oooh Smallishsheep your in Devon too!

My dislaimer is that I am young and have been 'alternative' dresser in my teens, so find a lot of things acceptable that others wouldn't.

HavingAnOffDAy · 13/05/2010 14:30

Would this be an alternative? Or am I way off mark?

Can you tell I love that print?

Thanks Purple - that spotty one is cute

That's Devonshire, my lover
Ooo we should go vintage shopping some time. Have you been to the Real McCoy and Relevant in Exeter? Heavenly places

mosschops30 · 13/05/2010 14:37

Sorry deffo no in a size 14 and deffo no over 24 ish.

In my pre-pregnacy state last year I was about 8 stone, size 8, but would not have entertained this.

I would love to wear a play suit but they are deffo restricted to very small women who are much younger.

Sorry to be harsh but thats the truth

Purplebuns · 13/05/2010 14:43

I think this would go better with your current heels
It isn't the same print you like though.

I think possibly anyone that doesnt like the playsuit won't like that either... I would pick the playsuit myself.

Sheep, I havn't been to Relevant, but know Real McCoy, I always used to drool over the huuge net skirts in there! I am also a bit of a boring dresser now, although still love clashy bright colours and flower print yum!

NinjaChipmunk · 13/05/2010 14:44

ooh i likethe dress havinganoffday. much nicer than playsuit. i have to say i hate the word playsuit! it makes me think of being dressed as andy pandy for a float in a fair when i was little.....

HavingAnOffDAy · 13/05/2010 14:52

Know what you mean Ninja...there's just something wrong referring to an item of adult clothing as a playsuit!!!
