recs for a degunking shampoo or treatment?

my hair has felt horrible for about 2 weeks now even a few hours after drying it starts feeling sort of claggy and heavy.

I use T gel shampoo (have done for several years) and until recently was using fructis conditioner. I think it's since I stopped using the fructis that the nasty feeling has started. I don't want to go back to using it though as it didn't leave my hair feeling as good as the conditioners I'd previously used. I'm now back to using what I was before (herbal essences stuff) and I'm not using any product on it and normally air dry.

I looked in superdrug for a degunking shampoo, I know neutrogena made one years ago, but couldn't see it, or anything like it.

Can anyone recommend something to make my hair feel better? DH has suggested he gets the clippers out thanks

After years of using T-gel and its ilk for sore scalp, I have recently started using Aveda Scalp Balancing shampoo. It has made my hair so much lighter and softer and it feels really clean but not stripped. My scalp was flaky for a day or two but is now a lot better.

I would recommend it and think I will buy the conditioner soon too.

Look for a shampoo described as a "clarifying" shampoo. Pantene do a nice. Vosene is also a very good clarifying shampoo although it might not be explicit on the label.

Don't use a clarifying shampoo too often though if you have coloured hair.

Do you live in a hard water area by any chance? That tends to make your hair like that. I would recommend using medicated shampoo (such as Vosene in the green bottle) - the dark brown syrupy-looking stuff that smells very strong. Asda do an own-brand one that's just as good as Vosene. Also if you see a shampoo made with rosemary, try that - or a rosemary oil treatment of some sort. I believe rosemary is good for stripping off the hard water clag layers, although I've not tried it myself.

yes we are in a hard water area, but have always been, so I'm not sure that's what's caused the problem

anyway, we've got head and shoulders in the house so I'll try that first, have also ordered some Asda medicated shampoo in the grocery order for this week too

hopefully they'll work, if not I'll try thre washing up liquid!

thanks all
