Are they intended for people to swim in or for use as cover ups?

Hello crumpet!
Those are a bit peculiar. I think they must be for swimming, because they have 'integral briefs' and are made of the same material. Definitely for swimming.

Hello! I wonder how many they sell - I've never seen them in action.

I'm not sure I'd like to see them in action! Are you considering them? I'd go for the skirt option if you are, the shorts might 'gape' a bit !

this whole thread looks like I am talking to myself or you are talking to yourself

THese (the skirt kind) are really popular with 30+ women on East Coast US beaches. They don't seem to wear normal swimsuits / bikinis.

I've got the swimshorts. If you have a small child where you will be doing a lot of sitting in v shallow water, running after them, hoiking yourself out of pools at high speed sort of things, they provide a lot of coverage where you aren't worrying about the world looking at your fanjo by accident.

I have a coverup skirt for when I am away for work, and want to sit by the pool without feeling totally undressed when in view of my colleagues

I imagined they were for mums playing beach games! (the PG certificate kind of beach game )

I have swim shorts - better sun protection coverage.
