i need to find something to wear to a leaving do but its not somewhere posh so sort of smartish casual

but! im the biggest tomboy around i live in jeans, hoodys and skate trainers.

im a size 18

im gay and dont mind dressing so it looks obvious iykwim!!

please please help!! im dreading going to town with the kids and possibly not finding anything!

for smart casual i'd go for smart jeans and a nice top does'nt have to be to girly or maybe even a shirt.

Have you seen how Ellen Degeneres dresses? She pulls off a smart casual tomboy look for her talk show, etc. Do an image search for her and you might get some great ideas. She goes for tailored trousers, sometimes trouser jeans, lots of great blazers (a great idea, BTW, since they're classic yet very fashionable now and can elevate jeans and trainers into an "outfit") and a whole range of funky flat shoes. I'm straight but a tomboy stylewise as well so know well the challenges of not looking like a sullen 14 year old.

My gay pals are all into cufflinks at the moment...they look fab

Dark jeans or denim pants styled like chinos (no skinny leg jeans) and a loose longish top or top with a wrapover effect. For footwear, how about colourful pumps? Pointelle jumper from Marisota.
