I'm looking for some amazing, 'investment' (!) shoes.

So I'd love to know where your most amazing pair of shoes are from. Not really after comfy (though obviously a bonus) just heart-stoppingly gorgeous ones.

I like Kurt Geiger unless you have the budget for designer in which case you could look at Louboutin, Cavalli, Miu Miu, Lanvin... the shoe world is your oyster if you are will to spend £500ish.

I have some fabulous shoes from Jones (which were much admired at a wedding on Sat). They have done sterling work for nearly six years now (through a series of re-heelings of course).

Wouldn't call them investment though as they were under £30 in the sale!

Well,I am dying for some decent weather so I can get my Jimmy Choos on-I'm in love with them!

They are super comfy,go with everything etc.A great investment.
Bought these last week in LK bennett, and looking forward to wearing them soon, with pencil skirts probably.

Not sure if they are very comfy though.Still, pain is required sometimes!

But the shoes that get the most complements BY FAR are from Office.Red patent/satin,high Mary Janes.Been wearing them years and still get compliments everytime I wear them.

My best statement shoes are shocking pink wedges from Barretts. They do something extraordinary to my legs and dh will never let me get rid of them. They are about the cheapest shoes I posess.

I was tempted to splurge on a pair of Louboutin's recently but the sales girls in the shop were too busy with Maggie Gyllenhall to notice me and my fellow shoe buyers so we left

Paul Smith - high wedge peeptoes with a gorgeous red poppy print. They are incredibly flattering but cripple my feet so can only wear them for about an hour max, sadly!

I got a showstopping pair of nudey snakeskin Louboutins in Vegas (I was pissed and had won money). They are a classic shape, 4 inch heel, round toe, a bit 70s interpretation of 40s. Just the tiniest amount of toe-cleavage. Nudey beige and black so lengthen the leg and go with anything.

I?m not so keen on the more recent Louboutins that can sometimes veer into the stripper-heel territory.

If you?re really going for investment, maybe a pair of Manolos as they are exquisitely made and long lasting. Or Rupert Sanderson, or Georgina Goodman. Or Nina Dolcetti?

I also have a couple of pairs of Gucci suede platform heels. Again, a nod to the 70s/40s thing.

I don?t rate Choos anymore, not so well made and flimsy.

I am a babywearing (yes, yuck, but how else to describe it) mother now and clomp around in flats?I long to be able to don my fuck-me heels again.

dorisbonkers · 11/05/2010 11:19

If you don't want to spent 500 quid (who the fuck does) then you can try on various designers in a place like selfridges and then try your luck on ebay. I've bought several this way. If they don't fit I sell them on.

Generally Louboutins come up small, so a 36 will be a 36.5. Ferragamo is true to size. Gucci comes up a little big. Choo pretty much bang on. Manolo a little small
