Fit Flops - any good? Do they look like mad old lady shoes?

Am such a sucker for a gimmick - but do they work? I have never seen any in real life, the flip flops look alright, but the Roma ones and those Gogh ones look a bit like mad old lady shoes and I don't need any help on that front. Any thoughts? Shall I splash out or save my cash? (Am skint so really don't need to be taken for a ride by clever marketing!)

i bought a pair yesterday. V confy to start with and doing recommended 30 mins to start. Thighs and calves really ache. BUT my toes are sore and also across the top where the seams are. I have choc seude ones. Does anyone know if this is normal 'wearing in'. Worried they will keep hurting. Am 3-4 so got 4 but should i have got 5?

My Sketchers Tone Ups arrived yesterday and I wore them all day cause they were so comfy. No aching legs (maybe a little tightness in my inner thigh) but then I run so my muscles are probably used to it.

Hoping they'll help me tone up though.

If not, mine were only £30 from ebay and I love the height the wedges give me (only 5'1") so they were worth it anyway.

I got mine (Gogh ones I think - the clog type ones) to help with plantar fascitis rather than toning - got no idea whether I'm more toned but they have definitely helped with the plantar thing - plus are so comfy and bouncy to walk in. You definitely walk taller I think so can imagine it would help posture and maybe backache.

Not the most attractive but I wear them with jeans to walk to nursery, the park/shops etc and I don't think they look too bad, though my friend did ask if I was wearing my slippers once.. (might as well have been they are that comfy!) Now wondering whether to get some summer ones, but can't really afford it so will probably make do with my birkenstocks.

My feet are disgusting so I would never be able to get away with wearing them on that fact alone.

and not a decent green among them

Am interested in this thread. I need to get some comfy sandals for summer. Am 23 weeks pg and long walks make my body want to split in two.

Have never worn toe-post flip flops though, are they hard to get used to? Are Birkies better?

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 23/05/2010 10:14

Just looking at some birkies. The uppers are all synthetic, does that make them uncomfortable or sweaty?

overthemill · 23/05/2010 19:49

my birkenstocks are leather and are soo comfy.. and so were my old ones but i think you can get veggie ones too . try amazon or rubbersole?

now really neeeding advice re hurtingness of fitflops. Anyone??? i got these to replace some lovely toepost sandals the puppy ate! and these were cheaper so i thought they'd be good
