No iron workwear

OK, I am going shopping for the first time in a about a year tomorrow and need to buy some fairly casual tops for work. I am very lazy when it comes to washing and ironing and need some no-iron tops. To wear with my collection of no-iron black trousers. No buttoned shirts as they tend to gape over my too ample boobs!
Any ideas, maybe just shops to try (my usual is marks and spencers).
Thanks

I quite like the M&S striped Perfect t-shirts and they are fine left un-ironed.

go cheap
if you don't want to iron, maximising the artificial fibre count is the way forward.
tesco, primark, peacocks?

don't forgot to peg the washing our careful and fold straight from the line. sorted.

Gap, esp if you're avoiding shirts. I don't iron anything at the moment, most of my workwear is gap , with some jersey dresses.

M&S

janeite · 08/05/2010 20:23

CaptainNancy - where do you get your jersey dreses please and, even more importantly, have you managed to find some that don't cling around the norks and make them look as if they are about to explode?

CaptainNancy · 08/05/2010 20:44

Hello Janeite!
I have a very nice grey knit dress which is cotton but looks and feels like wool from White Stuff (from John Lewis), a navy/turquoise jersey dress from Fat Face (but it would be too casual for your place of work... but they often have nice subdued patterns and colours), and the best one is a wrap black jersey dress... from TopShop's maternity range I bought it when pg with dd... but it is fantastic, though I do have to wear a vest underneath.

janeite · 08/05/2010 20:45

Thank you. Found myself drooling over a maternity jersey dress in Gap today! Fat Face and White Stuff both too long for me though - do you get yours taken up?

CaptainNancy · 08/05/2010 21:56

Yes- Gap Maternity ... why didn't they have that before I gave birth for the 2nd time?
So annoying...

No to taking up... my dresses are actually officially "tunics"

janeite · 08/05/2010 21:58

Ahh I see. Will have a look!

You may already be shopping and this is too late, but my favourite shirts for work are £9.99 (bargain!) from H&M. (here's a description as the M&M website is pants to link to) They're short (cap) sleeved, collarless (in the kind of Grandad style), have a narrow V-neck which is quite low but not so low you're flashing folk, no buttons and stretchy. They are the best shirts for avoiding gaping. And you don't have to iron them! (I also refuse to iron for work unless I abdsolutely have to) They come in loads of different colours (I have about 4 different ones). They're very subtly vertically stripey, but always in the same colour as the rest of the shirt (difficult to describe!) apart from the one that's white/turqoise striped (which I really want but can't find, grr ).

Thanks everyone for your replies. Actually had quite a successful trip but mainly stuck to my old stalwart M+S. Will definately take a look at H+M next time I'm in town.
