I'm 35 on Saturday and am booked in at the hairdressers....help!

I have had the same long layered blonde bob for-what-seems-like-ever.

I never seem to go to the same hairdresser twice and never know what I want when I go in and always seem to end up the same! I fancy a change and have booked a trendy place in town for a birthday treat.

Anyone have any inspiration for what might work for me - have put a recentish photo in profile (I think )

I quite like this - shorter layers than I'm used to and might not need too much work.

Until now I've been towel drying and going but have time (and maybe the inclination) to do more with in the mornings...

Any ideas really gratefully received.

That looks lovely and I think will really suit your hair! Just make sure the layers are really sliced into and not too chunky.... go for it

Thanks Wannabe, just what I needed to hear! Is that what I ask for then - sliced layers rather than chunky? I am such a novice!

No worries from your pic your hair looks quite thick so get them to thin it out with sliced through layers.

I think that with the style of it, it will be easy to manage and just throw a bit of texturiser through it in the mornings once dry and you are onto a winner! It would also look lovely if straightened too - versatile look!

your hair is wavy non?

the pic you like is of a very thick haired very straight haired model. I don't see it working like that on you, sorry.

A de constructed loose bob would be nice, that will sit a bit wavy for you and wont need taming with straighteners.

The pic on the right is lovely img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/anarjen/FrejaHair.jpg

I'm really sorry thatsnotmymonkey but I've got to disagree. Yes the hair on the model is not as thick and straighter but I know lots of women who have wavy / thicker hair with a similar style to what treetrunkthighs wants and it actually looks better on them because of the wave/body in their hair.

Ultimately its OP's choice but if that is what you have looked into and obviously have enough conviction about the style to post the link then go for it... the worst that can happen is that you need to grow some of the shorter layers out which won't take too long.

I've just discovered this website www.taaz.com, upload your pic and try on loads of different styles

missmelly · 06/05/2010 23:55

sorry, proper link

TreeTrunkThighs · 07/05/2010 00:08

Thank you thatsnotmymonkey - you are right, I am kind of wavy...more unruly really. One side flicks out nicely and the other goes bouffant and crap. I feel the need to get rid of a lot of hair but not go too short.

Please tell me more about this deconstructed bob.

Will go on taaz.com when I'm not on my phone as it won't work from bed.

Again, thanks.

did you see my previous link?

do not let the hairdresser rush you and insist on a long and full consultation. If you are unsure, go for a safer option, with a view to retiring to the salon for a re-cut in a week. If it is a good salon they should accommodate this for no additional or very reduced cost.
