new duvet set for dd

SarfEasticated · 04/05/2010 22:02

I am looking for something for my dd 2.5. She is terrible at staying in her bed, so am pimping her cotbed to encourage her to stay.
My plan is a new white bed cast irorn bed (ikea), mosquito net thingy for pure fairy princess power, and a nice duvet cover. I don't want anything too disney, just something with flowers, the odd fairy, and a bit of charlie and lola thrown in.
Have found nice stuff in Verbaudet, but understand their service isn't great

and also some nice things in zara home but possibly a bit too fussy
www.zarahome.com/shop/gb/en/zara-home-kids/zoom/Kids+Jaime+Bed+Linen/189003/999/multiple?imgUrl=http ://www.zarahome.com/images/b/4043/000/999/BK/AN/s/1.jpg

i suppose I like detail, with clear colours, but not too many frills.
Have looked at John Lewis, white company, next and designers guild. who am a overlooking oh wondrous shoppers?
Thanks in advance

I have done the same with my Dd. Sounds like she has the same bed and I bought two duvet sets from Wilkinsons.

Do you think the Ikea bed is OK SOLO? Looks nice, do you think the quality is good?

I have never had any problems with the service at Verbaudet and I have ordered quite a few times.

If you google or search on here you'll find some discount codes to use to which will bring the cost down.

motherlovebone · 05/05/2010 20:43

Vertbaudet is poor quality, and Zara also and £££.
I bagged a Dorma set in Allders sale for the same price!

I have found Ikea stuff to be reasonable in terms of price and quality.

aspace have some nice ones

as do GLTC

and laura ashley

VerityBrulee · 05/05/2010 20:47

DD has this from Laura Ashley and it is lovely, washes beautifully too.

MrsMeow · 05/05/2010 20:50

DD has www.next.co.uk/shopping/homeware/childrensbedroom/32/1?extra=sch&n=homeware&pid=400-864&exclude=00Q0 0|00QS00|00QS0100&returnurl=%2fshop%2fcat-childrensbedding-cat-childrensbedsets-0%3fnxti%3d0%26nxtv% 3d000%26isort%3dbst&bct=%26quot%3bShop%20By%20Product%26quot%3b%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bChildrens %20Bedding%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bChildrens%20Bedsets set from Next, with matching curtains.

It's nowhere near as fussy as it looks on the site, I wouldn't have ordered it if I hadn't seen it in real life in the shop. And because it's reversible, you get 3 different looks from the set of 2 quilt covers (one side of both covers is the same print, if that makes sense!)

It washes really well too, we've had it since last summer and it still looks like new.

MrsMeow · 05/05/2010 20:51

Whoops, sorry for such a long link!

traceybath · 05/05/2010 20:55

DS's have the ikea iron bed in black and this in blue.

I think the pink is adorable and will probably get that at some point for DD.

I also like the the white company.

Ponden Home (Rosebys) have some nice ones. Good quality too.

Also Next are worth a look.

solo · 05/05/2010 21:56

SarFeasticated, this is Dd's one bed and it is lovely.

solo · 05/05/2010 21:59

Should have said that it is sturdy and Dd can't fall out of it. The down side is that when it is not extended to full length, single sized quilts are too long on it. I just turn it over at the end of the bed so that Dd doesn't over heat. HTH.

littlepinkpear · 05/05/2010 22:08

Have you tried Freckles? I get it from a local independent shop, but they have a website.

here

Its pretty expensive for the whole set, but the patterened sheets and pillow cases are lovely and I mix and match with plain cottons from Next.

lousouthend · 05/05/2010 22:24

Not really answering your question but we did same for my dd to try and keep her in bed, worked but she hated the mosquito net thing above her bed-we tried it a few times and she really couldn't settle with it above her head so it is now languishing in a cupboard unused. But perhaps its just our dd that loves the idea of things but hates the reality...

clogs4 · 05/05/2010 22:43

for the loveliest girls bedlinen look at noolibird - we have the fairy garden set - not cheap but amazing quality and great service..

boogywoogy · 05/05/2010 22:51

I have a lovely Gisela Graham duvet set for my dd - crisp white cotton with embroidered design. She has had it for a few years now and it washes really well and has not faded at all. It wasn't cheap at £40 but well worth the money.

Thanks everyone, some really nice recommendations, I hadn't even thought of Laura Ashley, so thanks for that verity and yesterday.
And LouSouthend - very good point - may be a little claustrophobic!

very kind of you all to go to so much trouble,
much appreciated
