Hi. I never venture onto this topic so sorry if this has been done before many times. I am neither stylish nor beatiful, but I hope you'll have me for a short visit . I have always had huge (to me) pores on my nose and cheeks. I squeeze them (I know, I know) amd they often have stuff in them (tmi), even though I cleanse and moiturise morning and night. I use biore strips once a week (highlight of my week actually) and loads of stuff comes out! Is my cleanser not doing the job or will I just always have to keep on top of them? I use cheap Dove bars or currently Boots wipe off stuff. Any advice on how ot make them smaller and less, well, full? thanks

Duh - I meant foundation and mascara!! No moisturiser!!

Actually, I think it does remove make up, although I have to use aqueous cream on my eyes as anything else makes them sore.

In answer to Norah's question, I've tried jojoba oil as I happened to have it in the cupboard, and I usually re-apply the hot flannel several times.
Maybe this is stripping the oil, as you say.

Then I just rinse in the shower in the morning, which is when I feel the need to moisturise.

Another question: what about wrinkles etc?
I've never really gone in for anti-wrinkle creams but presumably with this method you have to put all that behind you!
(Sorry for hijack, OP).

ruddynorah - i'm also a "curlygirl" convert and when i was reading this thread last night i was thinking if i tried this on my face as well i'd be saving a fortune what with not buying shampoo or facial wash!

think i'm going to try it only on my nose since thats where i have the open pores - the rest of my face is problem free.

no idea about anti wrinkle creams since i never use them either! i tried them for about 3 months once and saw absolutely no difference!! then decided to just stop worrying about my laughter lines and just get old gracefully!

yes you could do it other way round, oil at night.

the oil gets your make up off. i just wipe my face at night with hot cloth and sleep in any make up left on me makes no odds though tbh.

one minor problem is that your eyelashes are left a little oily, so then when you put mascara on it can go a bit smudgy..though problem is solved with an eye lash tint and perm

my skin is/was very very oily T zone (nose and forehead) and very dry A zone (mid brow down to cheeks).

i started off with olive oil 90% and castor oil 10%. i found any more castor oil than that was far too drying. i also found that once my skin had found its balance i didn't need the castor oil. the castor got rid of all the gunk. then after that it was too drying.

so now i just use olive oil.

i will be starting dd on this regime as soon as she starts a cleansing routine.. she is only 3 now though!

I'm a curly girl too, and have also been trying out the oil cleansing method. I don't think I've got the right oil combination or oils though, as while it has helped, I'm still pretty blocked. I have tried sunflower oil and jojoba oil with castor oil [60:30:10]. Can you literally see the gunk come out when you have got it right? Perhaps I should try olive oil for a while?
My skin is a less dramatic version of yours I think [ruddynorah] and I also get spots. What do you reckon?

[As an aside, what do you use on your hair, I'm struggling with fluff at the moment.]

ruddynorah · 04/05/2010 22:12

at the moment it's mostly just tied back (due to having 6 month old ds to contend with) but normally i just use that cheapo boots pink curl creme £1.29

yeah me too, and their gel. Have you tried FSG? I have but haven't managed to get the right amount yet so I end up too clumpy or not enough.
I find I am constantly saying 'not my hair' to the dc's - they are learning though.

Hi, I am new here... I was just wondering if someone did use this and what were the results? I had tiny pores on my face and to block them I started using this and have been doing this oil cleansing method for 3-4 days, but it looks like my pores look more open now... :( Please help... :( Just wondering if the hot flannel is actually opening the pores more?
