Fellow horned hoofers - chiropody?

My feet are VILE and I have sucked it up and booked to go to the chiropodist tomorrow. I am having on-going issues with how I walk causing lots of thick dead skin, hopefully my new insoles will fix this!

What will happen? Will she shout at me for having horrendous calluses? Bit nervous!

Does it hurt? How often do you go?

Cheers.

I went yesterday.

Not sore at all.

Lots of scraping.

No shouting!

She said come back next year.

I went today and it was AMAZING.

She totally got rid of my calluses which was my main issue. She took some skin off my heels too but they were not too bad beforehand.

She used a DREMEL on them and some sort of magical moisturiser.

They are soooooo baby soft.

She also painted them for me in a gorg blacky/reddy colour.

Bargain for £26.

Booked to go back already

I am a Chiropodist/Podiatrist and I would not paint anyone's toe-nails, nor I would I want them to come to the surgery wearing nail polish.
A chiropodist can tell a great deal about a patient's general health by looking at their toenails and if they are covered in polish this is not possible.
A "proper" chiropodist (as you put it) is one who is registered with the Health Professions Council see www.hpc-uk.org
If you look for the letters MChS after the name that will guarantee that they have completed a 3 year F/T course of study.

Hope that helps.

I too go every few months, for hard skin and a toenail that tries to grow in - but looks fine thanks to my chiropodist's ministrations. Doesn't hurt at all, and mine is really nice - we have a good chat. She's never told me off, though has suggested applying moisturiser to my feet more regularly - advice I've followed and which has paid off.

I see the chiropody visit and a pedicure as completely different things - would not be happy to have them mixed. I usually book a pedicure a few days after my chiropody - and always do in summer.
