Help! I'm going to a hen-do with a load of 20-somethings!! What do I wear?

So, I'm a 33 year old mother of 2 and one of my old uni mates is getting married this summer. Her hen do is in a couple of weeks and I'm slightly worried about what to wear as the bride to be and all the other hens will be young, single 20-somethings! I love fashion, but have very limited budget for clothing at the moment - DD is 3 and DS is 8 months.

So, please help me decide what to wear. I'm just going to the meal in the evening, then to club (oh, help me!!).

I'd like a dress and some fab shoes. I'm 5' 10", size 8, no boobs and skinny arms and legs!

TIA

I think with your lovely figure anything goes i wouldnt get too worried that they are in there 20's, personally I would go for a dress because its easier ( something to show off your legs maybe)and you wont have yo worry about tops and bottoms, or maybe some super skinny jeans and sexy top you dont have to spend loads I would look in (whispers) primark, they have some really cute shortish print tulip style skirts that look fab with a plain black vest and some funky accesories (jangly bangles, necklace) if you have a denim jacket that would lokkk nice with this, Topshop have some lovely stuff in at mo, for the record im 32 with 2 kids and this is my going out look hth

Well what have you got? I bet you have something in your wardrobe already and don't have to go buying a new outfit!

Just coz they're 20 somethings doesn't mean they will judge you by what you wear (unless you seriously have no clue)

toppoptart - I suppose I'm worried that they are all trendy illustration/art/design types and I'm a SAHM who used to be into fashion/did a fashion degree, but now just buys things that work well when running around after the DCs and I've lost my 'style'!! I normally play it quite safe and don't want to turn up looking like some one's Mum, rather than 'one of the girls'! I know that there's not that much of an age gap, but their lives seem a world away from mine! Dress or skinnies with a nice top sounds do-able, then not too expensive. We don't have a primark near us, but one in the next city, so I might have a little mooch if I get chance to go over there!!

overmydeadbody - I usually go for the dress and leggings combo or the skinnies and vest top/long cardi combo, both with flats, so that is all my wardrobe consists of at the mo!! Also, what with being pg last summer I have no summer stuff that has been bought in the last 2 years, so am really starting from scratch!! I don't think they will judge me, I just want to feel good and not like the SAHM that I actually am! I feel generally frumpy and post natal, and just want to go out as 'me', rather than DDs and DSs Mum! IYSWIM

OK, so what styles of tops? I love those hanky-hem long vests, but are they better on girls with a bit more of a bust? Things do seem to just hang from my shoulders, rather than fit my body! And any recommendations for places to get great shoes? Budget of about £100 for the whole outfit BTW.

Oh and I'm so glad denim jackets are back!!

Thanks again!!

Ahh, thanks, toppoptart!

That's exactly it! I've lost my fashion mojo!!

I think I need a nice shopping trip with the girls to boost my confidence a bit!
