Is this outfit OK? Please help me accessorise..

I have a wedding to go to this weekend, and I'm having a panic. Nothing seems to fit and I am a hopeless shopper.

The best thing I've found is this dress. I've ordered these shoes - do they look OK?

What else do I need? Jewellery? Bag? What colours should I go for?

I also need an outfit for a black tie wedding in a fortnight (argh!) - could I wear this, or do I need to find something else?

I'm 5'11, size 18(top half)/16(bottom half), (bottle) blond, v pale skin. I look every minute of my 37 years and more (non-sleeping 8mo dd2).

Dress is fine but shoes too daytime with the cork, IMO. I woudl go for something with some colour to match the dress...do you want a wedge?

cyb · 28/04/2010 21:13

would these be too high?

cyb · 28/04/2010 21:15

cagey type

footstep · 28/04/2010 21:18

Thanks cyb. Hmm - I wondered about the cork I've ordered them in the blue, which I hope will look OK with the dress?

I struggle with heals (usually wear v ugly flat shoes/trainers/flipflops). Wedges are a compromise because they give the leg flattering effect of heals, but I know that I can walk in them.

Am very open to suggestions though.

Oo crossed posts.

I don't think I could walk in the Dune ones - wow - I'd be quite striking at 6'3.5 though!

I saw the M&S ones in store yesterday - I thought they'd be perfect, but they only had tiny sizes - mostly sold out online too

i'll keep looking...are you thinking blue now?

cocolepew · 28/04/2010 21:22

too blue?

cyb · 28/04/2010 21:23

these come in navy but it looks dark

cyb · 28/04/2010 21:25

I reckon you could go silver with that dress too

hang on

footstep · 28/04/2010 21:26

I think blue, yes - or silver/pewter? Would that work (am clueless).

How about jewellery? Do I need any? What kind of thing?

thanks v much

these ciould amke it look quite 50's if you really cinched the old waist in

I would go for a clutch, just a cheapy one eitehr in blue or silver, dont go too matchy

dress is quite busy so simple earrings, no necklace I dont reckon

cyb · 28/04/2010 21:30

these are lovely, I reckon you woudl wear them loads afterwards too

cocolepew · 28/04/2010 21:31

too casual?

I'm good at this aren't I?

cocolepew · 28/04/2010 21:33

oops that's the same one

tries again

cocolepew · 28/04/2010 21:35

I have ones like this without the horrible front sole they're lush

WoodenFish · 28/04/2010 21:38

Love, love, love the dress!

footstep · 28/04/2010 21:48

oo cyb, those silver ones are lovely. I wish I had the kind of life that would allow me to get lots of wear out of beautiful silver shoes! I'll try to get to office tomorrow..

coco - the Dune ones are lovely - the tire tread is a bit odd though. I think 4" heals are too high for me. I start to feel like a drag queen once I'm taller than DH (he's 6'2")

WoodenFish - glad you like the dress. It's silk, which came as a relief (and a surprise) after the oceans of polyester in Debenhams.

The crinkly-ness makes it very flattering over hips/bum..

I have basically no waist, so I'm planning to wear it with the belt as a sash up under my bust. I think it looks OK. Also disguises the fact that the waistline of the dress falls much higher than were my waist would be if I had one

where

OP posts:
cyb · 28/04/2010 22:22

footstep you could soo wear those silver shoes again, with jeans in the summer in the evfenings, or with a little dress on holiday

blinks · 29/04/2010 00:11

silver/grey or metalli accessories would look nice.

either that or contrast with natural brown/wood accessories or a vibrant orangey red.

here are some bags that would fit into both options-
