Maxi dress for a Christening?

Hi

Got a christening to go to next weekend, and just wanted to opinions as to whether or not a maxi dress is suitable Christening wear? Or should I be looking more for a knee length or shift style dress? I think it will be a reasonably dressy affair, the maxi dress that I have seen is smart/casual but could possibly be dressed up a bit.

Thanks for your help!

I wouldn't. Not right for a church do. I'm not a fan of maxi dresses at the best of times but at a Christening it would look too fashiony. You don't have to be as dressed up as you would be for a wedding but definitely "Sunday-best" attire I think.

I think a maxi dress is fine as long as it's not too casual.

I've got my ds christening on sunday and im wearing this but in navy blue.
I am wearing it with a little shrug,

I've worn a maxi dress to a christening before so I think it's fine. Dress it up with some nice jewellery and a pair of heals and it will be lovely

will be absolutely fine, what is it about church do's that make people think you have to come over all pastel 80s mother of the bride???

I wore a lovely maxi dress from monsoon to a wedding last October, looked great.

oh and also we went to a christening a few weeks ago all dressed up and looked really out of place. The christening was included in the usual Sunday service and all the regular church goers were in jeans and trainers so don't worry about it being a smart / casual dress.
