Shopping - am going cold turkey, anyone want to join me?

Have checked my bank balance, and as for last several months am overdrawn. Purely because I KEEP BUYING STUFF.

I have had a cruddy start to the year (two miscarriages, DIY galore, DH missed out on a job and has just had surgery so will be housebound for weeks). And have got into vile habit of buying myself things to cheer myself up.

It isn't working any more because my finances are depressing me! I am going to make a clean break and buy NOTHING until next payday. No online browsing, no daily checking of the Office sale site, and especially no eBay.

Anyone else up for the challenge?

Yes I am.

I am ebaying lots of 'mistake' purchases at the moment that I bought just to 'cheer myself up'.

Sorry to hear about your unhappy times stillfrazzled.

Strange isn't it, how shopping never cheers you up in the long run?

I have the added incentive of trying to lose a stone and will then maybe treat myself to ONE item as a reward (heaven knows how far ahead that will be!)

Excellent, someone to keep me on track!

I have made some progress - was going to stop off in Topshop on way home from work, and then realised there was no point as I couldn't buy anything. Am slightly shocked and ashamed to realise how much time I spend looking at things and thinking of buying things...
