Hi, im having a fashion crisis. I love fashion and follow it avidly but just recently i have been really confused about what my 'look' is. I have a few outfits that I think are a certain look that I really like but when I look at my other clothes its like there are some nice pieces but nothing fits together well.

Im also feeling like im too old to be super fashionable but far to young to not be...

Am considering a topshop style advisor, has anyone had one? was it any good or were you just sold to mercilessly???

Where are you based naomi?

Why don't you put a small ad in for your website?

bunsandroses · 25/04/2010 17:52

I haven't had one but I have been thinking the same thing. I am so bored with my look at the moment but dont think i can wear a lot of what is in topshop without some advice. I would definitely try out a style advisor, let me know how it goes!

franch · 25/04/2010 18:16

I've done it, highly recommended

SuSylvester · 25/04/2010 18:39

god not top shop fgs
is shit

southeastastra · 25/04/2010 18:50

not everything in topshop is shit

foureleven · 25/04/2010 19:20

how is topshop shit?

I dont think anywhere else on the highstreet interprets fashion in a more wearable way.. bang on trend, reasonably priced, good quality, accuratly sized...

sorry su did you mean the style advisor service is shit? If so then which one did you go to please? and why was it shit? I guess it will vary from shop to shop like make up counter assistants..

Franch - which store did you go to? I shall prob go to westfields in london

I must say theres very little in topshop nowadays that grabs me.

If I were you - I'd go to selfridges/john lewis/debenhams depending on budget/age.

ruddynorah · 25/04/2010 19:37

how old are you? which side of 30? if you're doing topshop then go to a massive one, not a tiddly one in some shopping centre.

foureleven · 25/04/2010 19:37

Im in my 30s but very fashion conscious. I dont have a huge budget, do selfridges do any affordable brands?

Selfridges in london do the whole range from oasis/warehouse up to designer.

What shops do you normally like. I know for example, that places like Comptoir des Cotonniers (my local one is Bath) love nothing more than putting loads of looks together for you to try on and they don't pressure you to buy.

Could be worth just going into your fave shop and grabbing an assistant.

foureleven · 25/04/2010 19:42

Topshop is my favourite I think.. not sure what comptoir is but will google... sounds expensive.

I never go in selfridges, only for make up didnt realise they did all those brands.. apart from miss selfridge of course!

If fashiony but you don't want to spend up I would stick with your TopShop plan but go to Oxford Circus, the one in Westfield isn't nearly as big.

traceybath · 25/04/2010 19:54

Yes, agree with wolf - if you like topshop - go there.

southeastastra · 25/04/2010 20:08

the ruched back top is really flattering it cost a tenner but looks great.

foureleven · 25/04/2010 22:04

Comptoir des Cotonniers - wow its beautiful but am i right in thinking its a bit more pricey than topshop..?

My cousin uses the Top Shop advisor in York every season and always looks fantastic.

LowLevelWhinging · 25/04/2010 23:18

Shit, am I supposed to have A Look?

Fleecy · 25/04/2010 23:22

I went to see a Top Shop style advisor after having DC1 - I'd lost my way a bit stuck in a very limited maternity wardrobe for pregnancy and a fair few months after the birth too!

She was fab - no pressure at all, had lots of ideas and we put lots of looks together. I think I spent around £180 and I wore everything loads because she'd shown me different ways to wear them and incorporate them into my existing wardrobe. I'd say go for it.

If nothing else, you can always use it to get ideas then go elsewhere to buy later on!

Oxford Circus. Excellent.
