I like this dress but it makes the models bottom look huge

I am looking for a pregnancy maxi dress and love this but in the video it makes the most likely a size 10 bottom and hips look huge, and I'm a size 14/16 (5'10). what do you all think?

Mmm, there is a lot of pale. shiney looking material at the bottom, whisch is not the most flattering on the hips and arse (pear shape person here talking from bitter experience...)

this has less material

more flattering print?

plain but pretty

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 24/04/2010 09:29

The material isn't shiny, it's more crepey.

The first looks a bit dressy for everyday, plus I find jersey can cling rather unflatteringly, i.e bum on model (but is a gorgeous dress and colours!)

Sorry can't do strapless

Like the third option, thanks will check it out. Only downside is it's all black for summer.

thanks for your help.

I like the dress.

DinahRod · 24/04/2010 10:45

It's lovely looking but you'll have to try it on as it could look better in RL but a white bottom half always a danger if you have hips. It also looks slightly clumpy round the waist on the video.

too plain?
fave maternity wear site

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 11:01

oh god the model looks like she's go baloons tied to her bum....

dark and tight on top/ light and loose on bottom = big bum city.

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 11:03

like the topshop one, though in a real summer all that black....

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 11:04

i love Queen Mum, the fabrics are usually very lovely to touch...

starshaker · 24/04/2010 11:06

Maybe the model does have a big bum?
Think its a lovely dress though

tattycoram · 24/04/2010 11:34

I love that dress too Libra, have you tried it on? I've seen it in rl and it is lovely

diddl · 24/04/2010 12:09

I don´t think it makes her bum look huge, but I don´t think it´s looks 110Euro worth of dress either!

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 14:13

not bad

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 14:18

pretty

little bit too polyester

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 14:22

i saw one on a lady in Sainsburys that made me really want to get a maxi dress (though she wasn't pg) - and i think some of the more flowy non-maternity ones could do until huge-bumpiness anyway....

it had triangles of pale primary colour on it...

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 14:24

nice but still too dark?

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 14:25

a bit meh?

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 14:27

try again

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 14:37

you'd want to be planning at least two more summer pregnancies i think

SusieCarmichael · 24/04/2010 14:40

her bum does not look huge! and she is pregnant

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 14:40

nice and stripey?

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 14:50

bit like Samantha's mum in Bewitched?

notyummy · 24/04/2010 14:57

Like the stripey one and the Oli one.

cyb · 24/04/2010 15:07

the empire line of the one in the video runs the risk of amking you look like a galleon in full sail/ with your height and size you can wear something a lot more figure skimming IMO

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 24/04/2010 18:10

Thanks for all the suggestions, of course my 2 favs are the 2 non-pregnancy v.expensive ones. I liked the Seraphine one as well but I am sure I have seen it on and the skirt is very see-thru.

Think I am going to have to bite the bullet and just order it.

Cyb, I don't really do figure skimming, problem is during summer I am usually a size 12 but won't be doing pre-summer diet/exercise due to pregnancy so will be winter covered 14/16. Ugh.

Thank you everyone for your input.

I like the original dress- I think she looks lovely in it, and it make her to hslf very slim looking- it would look lovely on a curvy figure as well.
