Can anyone help me work out what colour season I am

On the other thread lots of people were saying its easy to work out which season you are and according to something that I looked at ages ago I think I'm winter but I can't find it again.

So what do you reckon?

Very dark brown almost black hair
Pale skin with a few freckles
Dark brown eyes

Can it be done or do I have to order the book and wait?

i think its pretty impossible
you need a mate to look at you objectively in cold harshlight with no slap on

tethersend · 24/04/2010 14:24

Honestly?

I think the colours thing is a load of shite.

There. I've said it.

Do I have to leave S&B now?

SuSylvester · 24/04/2010 14:25

i thought that too

then was converted

tethersend · 24/04/2010 14:25

like a cult?

tethersend · 24/04/2010 14:26

What converted you?

rookiemater · 24/04/2010 14:26

They don't do seasons any more it is clear/soft etc. If you go on the book people web site you can buy the most recent book for £4.99 and if you follow the guidelines in that should be able to work out what colours will suit you.

SuSylvester · 24/04/2010 14:29

i went as a sidekick
was convinced red was ME
she told me i was a muted summer.
i was like this
but god she is right. when you start wearing the colours you look so much better, you dont ned as much make up etcetc

adn for eg ( youll laugh) my colours are all like the end of a summer garden - soft pinks lilas, denim blue, cocoa so everythign i wear goes and CONTRAST is no good( likeit might be for a winter)

tonal is me
i know i sound sad but it works and makes shopping quicker

tethersend · 24/04/2010 14:29

Or you could just use your eyes...?

Sorry.

SuSylvester · 24/04/2010 14:30

am sure oyu can
you just need someone who is really objective

for eg i can see that dh ( who is prob a winter) i haev bought him all colours that suit me!! poor guy

jenduff · 24/04/2010 14:34

Su how is your DH now after the op?

Tether I've tried the stand in front of window with mirror and hold up clothes to my face but I just can't work it out.

Tried the honest brutal friends but they descended into a squabble as one loves browns and teals which is what I had been buying and the other one said they looked shit on didn't bring out the best in me

Thing is, we all tend to like the colours which naturally suit us - likewise with styles.
So people pile in with 'yeuk that's vile' when actually all that's happening is they're being faced with something that wouldn't suit them.

I'm also a summer, btw ('sweet pea', no less), and I agree that knowing your best colours makes a huge difference. And House of Colour still use seasons - it's just a way of categorising groups of colours.

Likewise style ( that fashionista site was pretty good, btw) - faced with, say, gladiator shoes I'll think 'yeuk, that's vile,' but they look great on a Natural or Dramatic type.

Whereas someone else who suits glads would turn their nose up at the pretty, delicate shoes I suit but struggle to cram my feet into.

SuSylvester · 24/04/2010 14:46

yes
even the colour of my jeans i noticed, if it was in my colour range, made a dif

noddyholder · 24/04/2010 14:49

Stepford wives only need this crapola! You need a good mirror and a modicum of taste/style.

SuSylvester · 24/04/2010 14:49

that is what I thought Nh
but was strangley won over

noddyholder · 24/04/2010 14:52

When I need some over coiffed woman with swatches to dress me i will start wearing robes .Sometimes even if it isn't your season you just love it You don't always have to look like someone from a john lewis catalogue a bit of a harsh contrast or clash is ok!

SuSylvester · 24/04/2010 14:53

no clashing looks shit on me. hmm colour woman didnt do clothes at all..

Ronaldinhio · 24/04/2010 14:56

I'm a summer according to the test and wear those sort of colours too
I saw something similar in a trinny and tranny book and gave it a go
yy to saving money and time shopping

noddyholder · 24/04/2010 14:59

But you don't always have to look great or 'right' according to some rule book You might just like something and look awful according to the rules but feel great.Another load of nonsense that men would never bow to

EggyAllenPoe · 24/04/2010 15:04

funnily enough the only person i know to have their colours done is my Dad. He is an Autumn, and they advised him to wear pink shirts....

which he already did anyway (quite the dandy, my Dad) out of work, and as this was 1987, was not really about to in work...

Ronaldinhio · 24/04/2010 15:07

i wish more men would adhere to some form of shopping rules other than ..I got this free with beer tokens in the pub.. or it represents a sporting choice.. or I am clueless feel free to dress me

I used to buy all sorts of things which weren't right for me or that didn't go with the rest of my wardrobe esp in sales or moments of stress/panic...now most of my clothes go with the rest of them and make me look better not worse

It's my choice to want to look my best and I'm doing it for Me Me Me...(and sometimes my friends, if I'm being honest)

cyb · 24/04/2010 15:10

I wear what I like and I like what I wear

SuSylvester · 24/04/2010 15:10
