Any HoC's 'Spring's out there?

Just saw the 'Winter' thread and thought I'd start a Spring one too...

I' 'newly diagnosed' and need some help and inspiration... If you've found anything good, colourwise, in the shops, can you please post a link??

Me too! There's some nice apple green T shirts in M&S, lots of coral too. Coral tops in River Island. No links, I'm afraid, this is from actually going into said shops.

I'm a Spring too. The red stuff in Phase Eight is great. There is violet in Wallis. Chocolate Brown in Monsoon. A pink coat in M & S Per Una that Twiggy was wearing in the ads (in the sale reduced to £35.00). Almost any coral pink will do as opal says. L K Bennett have beautiful violet too, and Laura Ashley - there is a shirtdress in there that I was thinking about but it isn't my archetype. I'll try to come back tomorrow with some more as it's bedtime now!!

Is this a Spring do you think, or is the white/green wrong?

NormaSnorks · 25/04/2010 18:14

This MUST be, surely? Aqua/ chocolate?

I don't think the red's right on your first dress - too much blue in it.

The teal/chocolate looks more autumn to me. But I'm better in the corals and yellows than the greens and blues, so that may just be me.

opalmum · 25/04/2010 19:40

Don't like the 1st dress. I was advised no pure white at all, & agree that the red in it looks too blue for a spring. Love the turquoise/chocolate combo tho.

NormaSnorks · 25/04/2010 21:19

Yes - agree about the 1st one, looking at it again - not the right red!

I'm finding this really hard I'm not sure if I understand how I can tell if there's too much 'blue' in something?!

It comes with practice. I'm not great at it, but DH is, so I get him to advise me. i even got him to check my earlier post, in case I'd got it wrong (again!) .

Wait till you get your style done and discover that you've bought stuff the right colours, but too frilly/long/short/angular/whatever!

Honestly, it's saved me loads of money (because I rarely find something 'right' ). Def worth it when I do though.

NormaSnorks · 26/04/2010 09:42

What happens at the style consultation? I'm not sure I
a) want to appear in front of others in my underwear
b) can really afford it...

Can you work it out for yourself, or from one of the books?

Isn't there a site with all the different style types listed somewhere?

OP posts:
purpleturtle · 26/04/2010 10:31

I'm sure it can be done with a book.

I have a friend who does this stuff, and I have found that being told what suits me has given me much more confidence than I had when I was trying to work it out for myself. I regularly get compliments now in a way I never did before!

It did involve being in underwear in front of others (but not for long, and with no criticism), and it was £££ (but, IMO, worth it in the long run).

RipMacWinkle · 26/04/2010 10:57

Hello - a 'Spring' here too and one who also struggles to work out the shades of colours etc so this thread will hopefully be very helpfully.

Am working up to going back for the style day but didn't consider that you might need to strip down to undies?! Is this true for all consultants and if so, I guess they would warn you about this before you go. Sounds a bit Trinny and Susannah for me.

I still think I might do it, agree with purpleturtle, I like the confidence of having had someone impartial telling me that a colour suited me. Would also love this with the style aspect.

purpleturtle · 26/04/2010 18:59

I guess I spent max 5 minutes in my bra and knickers - mainly with my back to everybody (by which I mean 2 consultants, and 2 other clients). They do it so they can determine your body shape - and they also took measurements of sections of the body (eg shoulder to waist) so that they have your actual proportions. It was a breakdown of my height, anyway - do not panic - measurements around the body were not taken!

Obviously, I've only been to the one independent consultancy, but one of them was HoC trained originally. I assume my experience was fairly typical.

Ok Springs I need your help...

Am off on a night out on Saturday, only my second since having DD in November. The first was a poor event, fashion wise. Felt very frumpy and mumsy.

However, my shopping recce today was a disaster - everything seems to be pastel! Anyone seen any "going out to the pub" tops/tunics/dresses that would suit a petite spring?!?

RipMacWinkle · 06/05/2010 15:22

Anyone a bit more clued up than me...

Is this Spring???
