how do you find sunglasses that suit your face?

because I can never find any that seem to suit me. Is there some special trick? I've bought countless pairs over the years, all look ridiculous on me. I've got to stop squinting or I'm going to have to fork out a fortune in Botox

i dont know..I have this problem too

You try on every pair until you find some that are vaguely OK and then you only ever look at similar styles in future.

TeaOneSugar · 22/04/2010 21:44

My DH always chooses my sunglasses, he has an eye for them - one of his most useful skills.

HeadFairy · 22/04/2010 21:46

But I do that Grimma, and then I fork out a fortune for some silly pair that look terrible when I catch myself in them or I see a photo of myself wearing them. Perhaps they morph when I leave the shop!

I have a small narrow face so I can never buy sunglasses online, they are inevitably too big

Trying on hundreds of pairs until you find the right one is the only solution. An indepandent optitcan might be able to help you, they are usually good at judging the most flattering shape for your face.

overmydeadbody · 22/04/2010 21:56

I think half of it is just about being confident wearing them, if you think you can pull of a certain style then you probably can.

chipmonkey · 22/04/2010 22:13

A good independent optician with a great range of sunglasses and an experienced assistant with a love for fashion! That's how it works in the practice I work in anyway.

WolframAlpha · 22/04/2010 22:20

I try loads on and take photos and then leave, look at them and show them to people (vain)

For some reason I can see if they suit me in photos but not mirror. Odd I know.

jammietart · 22/04/2010 22:25

Agree with chipmonkey. You don't have to buy from them but somewhere with a good range and accept help from the salesperson. They will identify your style in a few minutes and then either buy from there or go elsewhere.
