Cracked heels. Off to Boots, tell me what works

Please I love that I can now wear my flip flops, but I am afraid my feet very quickly get yucky as I spend so much time traipsing around every day, and my heels are a horrifying sight. What can I buy that will work and give me lovely feet?

This works like magic!

fishie · 22/04/2010 08:12

yy flexitol

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 22/04/2010 08:12

But also, get one of those things that's like giant emery board/sandpaper for your feet. Give your heels a good rub down with that in the bath (or shower, but you're less likely to fall over in the bath) and you'll see an immediate improvement; then use the Flexitol for the next week or so to get them back to beautiful heels.

PED EGG PED EGG PED EGG

but get one on ebay they are 1/4 of the price

AllBuggiedOut · 22/04/2010 08:16

Definitely sanding (sure there's a proper word for it, but you know what I mean ) and flexitol. Fantastic.

jamaisjedors · 22/04/2010 08:33

I have (finally) booked an appointment for a "medical" pedicure, for next Friday.

In previous years I tried sanding my feed down, flexitol etc. but I think more drastic measures are needed this year (plus I never quite get round to the regular upkeep needed so hopefully this will give me a kick start).

deaddei · 22/04/2010 08:44

Compeed is good too.
I too have booked a pedicure for next week- feet not too bad, but they do a better job of painting nails than I do.

doggiesayswoof · 22/04/2010 11:27

If they are really bad, pedicure first to get rid of hard skin build up - they will be rough with you and take a bit of time over it if you go to a decent place

Then sander/emery board thing and flexitol to maintain

Flexitol is the only thing that really works on cracked heels ime, worth the money

doggiesayswoof · 22/04/2010 11:28

I had my (annual) pedi last week and am now flexitoling like mad

No flip flops here though, was 5 degrees this morning

magnoliamom · 22/04/2010 14:22

The ped egg is good, but I like the Dr. Scholls heavy duty sander thing better. The old hooves came out smoother than with the egg. The Dr. Scholls cracked heel cream is good, too. It's all on offer at Boots right now, I think.

SuSylvester · 22/04/2010 14:25

i wnet tot he chirop on tuesday and she shaved MASSES of skin off me

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 22/04/2010 14:31

I really like the Boots own make & the Dr Scholl rough skin remover and intensive cream. (Boots is on offer atm, have just purchased). Use the scrub twice a week on dry skin before getting in the shower (remove rings first as this is serious scrub), then afterwards apply the cream for the rest of the week.

I did this last year in between sporadic pedicures and pedicurists (?) were in the end telling me I didn't suffer from hard skin on my feet. I got out of the habit over winter so am starting again tomorrow!

jamaisjedors · 22/04/2010 16:26

Does it hurt Su? [wimp emoticon]

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 22/04/2010 16:30

SuSylvester, is it very expensive to have it done at a chiropodists?

SuSylvester · 22/04/2010 16:35

£30 at mine

SuSylvester · 22/04/2010 16:42

no its like your back becin scratched.
i hada split on the side of my big toe she had to sort out but the de skinning is with a small blade and tbh if your skin is that bad you cant feel it
it is GREAT though afterwards, she sands them and puts a moisturiser on and your feet dont fit into your shoes htey are teeny tiny

jamaisjedors · 22/04/2010 16:48

Sounds good (the back scratching!).

will report back myself.

don't want tiny feet though - they are already midget sized

dotty2 · 22/04/2010 16:50

But one word of warning - flexitol and similar worked for me, but made the skin on the palms of my hands start flaking off (where had rubbed it in). So get some of those disposable gloves to rub it in with. (Have them in my bedside drawer with aforementioned cream to try and remind me to use it nightly. A casual drawer snooper would think me and DH had a more, ahem, imaginative sex life than we do...)

SuSylvester · 22/04/2010 17:00

really? lor dnever happened to me
