Hi,

Am hoping to have an ELCS in 10 weeks (whole other thread) and starting to prepare myself for the practicalities.

I want to get some nice, light trousers that will sit high up and avoid the scare area.

Can anyone recommend anything? Preferably not linen as I won't have time to iron them!

Was thinking something possibly jerseyish or similar that I can live in for a few weeks, not too expensise and hopefully not too tracky bottom like too!

Thanks!

I have had 2 sections and found yoga pants ( the type with the roll up and down top) to be perfect for going above the scar.
I also bought cheap tight fitting jersey mens boxer shorts for just after as they were avoided the scar area completly and the big fat maternity sanitary towels were held in place perfectly.
Good luck with the section

mookle · 21/04/2010 12:48

Ooooh perfect - my section is in 10 weeks also so marking place here for advice too thanks ELCSadvice

Thanks nobodys.

Ooh, do you have your date yet mookle

I'm meeting the cons next Weds and would love to get a date then rather than wait til 36 weeks. Just curious if you'd had yours.

ELCSadvice - no I have to go back at 36 weeks to book for 39 weeks keep thinking they are gooing to take it off me when I arrive at 36 weeks

Im hoping if the weather is ok (it will be around endjune/beg july, will beable to wear summer dresses that wont sit on scar

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 21/04/2010 14:57

I bought White Company jersey trousers for when I had an abdominal op last year.

They were great, had roll down tops but I wore them unrolled and high IYSWIM. Very comfy and I still wear them now.

Fio - am intrigued by jean wearing - everyone speaks of major rubbing in scar area - was this not a factor for you?

MarthaFarquhar · 21/04/2010 15:02

M&S do roll-top yoga pants. Identical to the White company ones, but £9.50 as opposed to £28 (I tried both this weekend - they really are the same).

Martha - I will look at them now.

Am hoping I will be able to wear jeans now but my friend said her scar got infected from clothes rubbing on scar and warned me against jeans - guess every one is different though - hope I fall into the can wear jeans category

ON the other hand I could not wear jeanes after natural (but v traumatic episiotomy) birth so mayybe I wont be able to wear with scar elsewhere IYSWIM

mookle · 21/04/2010 15:12

apols for shit spelling in that post

ELCSadvice · 21/04/2010 15:42

Thanks will check out M&S.

Mookle - you are hoping for the same dates as me - my EDD is 6th July and I'm really hoping for the end of June.

I had the cunning idea of summer dresses too, until I remembered the breastfeeding ishoo.

OP posts:
mookle · 21/04/2010 15:55

ELCSadvice - my EDD 7/7/10 so very similar! Have seen some excellent dresses that also cover breastfeeding angle though such as www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=13658&vid=1&pid=750280&scid=750280022 which someone posted on another thread on here yesterday so am still hopefull

mookle · 21/04/2010 15:56

I should point out that dress button down to waist area so therefore good for BFing

dizzydixies · 21/04/2010 15:59

my trousers made no difference at all as my scar was under my baby belly

am all about the comfort though and agree re yoga pants

ELCSadvice · 21/04/2010 16:03

Oooh, that dress looks fabulous.

Was also slightly worried about the whole maternity pad scenario under a pretty dress but that looks like it might be ok.

OP posts:
mookle · 21/04/2010 16:15

I think there is a black one of that dress so that might be better - never thought of the maternity pad issue!

mookle · 21/04/2010 16:16

might be better www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=13658&vid=1&pid=741475&scid=741475032

ELCSadvice · 21/04/2010 16:16

Ooh, black sounds good.

It's a minefield this post-childbirth wardrobe thing isn't it!

Might as well wear a potato sack and have done with it.

Or just not get dressed.

mookle · 21/04/2010 16:18

I was kind of hoping my maternit leggings might be OK after too as they are over the bump ones which if not too stretched out by then - will hopefully sit above scar and then can wear loose shirts/t shirts etc over leggings - again

mookle · 21/04/2010 16:20

yes nude post birth the way forward - mmm maybe not my post birth bod not too good - just stay in nighties then!!

APassionateWoman · 21/04/2010 16:20

I've had two sections and all I could bear to wear were black yoga-style pants (I got mine from M&S and wore with long tops or maternity tops) or leggings that came up really high (TopShop ones good) with a long top or dress over the top.

mookle · 21/04/2010 16:21

APW - I love my leggings so am hoping they dont rub scar area

Stylelostinlabour · 21/04/2010 22:08

My scar is that low from csection that the only thing to rub it would be an untidy lady garden!

My scar is really really low down, just above my hairline (which is quite low) even my normal knickers didn't sit on it.

I thought everyones would be this low?

Also go for always ultra night time pads rather than the bricks of maternity pads so much better under clothing

I did Maxi Dresses for the first 8 weeks after my son who was born last June - were great for breast feeding as could just drop down at one side and pull cardy round a bit.

Also they were nice and cool for when the hot sweats post op kick in.

Good luck

mookle · 22/04/2010 07:56

Thanks Stylelostinlabour I have a couple of maxi dresses I should still fit in. Hoping my scar is nice and low down too.
