wash off tanning lotion

Have horribly pale legs that never tan and I always get streaks when I use fake tan (even when it's professionally applied) so I just want something I can apply and wash off at the end of the day. Any recommendations gratefully received

Pretty Polly Make up for Legs - brill stuff!

SoLongAsItsHealthy · 19/04/2010 09:57

Benefit Jiffy Tan all the way for me!! It's great, I used it a lot last summer. You just massage it on like body lotion, don't have to worry about streaks or careful application, it just seems to give your legs a lovely soft tan. And it doesn't come off on your clothes either.

Sally Hansen Airbrush legs is fantastic - spray onto hands, rub over, and it stays put until you wash it off with soap. Covers bruises and veins too

Rimmel Sunshimmer wash-off stuff in the shimmer (not the matt - much harder to blend and get a nice finish with that stuff) and in the lighter of the two shades is dirt-cheap and works a treat I find. Comes off with a soapy flannel in the shower. I am very fair and it looks natural on me - good to use all over the body and easy to blend. Often they have it in superdrug for under £3 a tube, bargain.

Thanks for all your suggestions Out of those I've only tried the Benefit one and I'm afraid I didn't get on with it - stained hands and streaky legs Will see if I can get any more endorsements for the others

Why not try a Gradual Tan, that tans your legs more slowly and over period of a few days. Sienna X do one called Extend and Perfect, and I have used one I bought from Nails and Beauty Direct www.nailsandbeautydirect.com - works a treat.

I have just discovered fake bake which is excellent natural looking non-streaky stuff with staying power but even better when you put it on with this

ladylush · 20/04/2010 11:49

Ah but do you all have very pale legs? I ask this because I have tried products that others insist are streak free only to find that my legs disagree

DH describes my skin tone as 'glo-white'. Fake tan, even the gradual ones go streaky on me, which is why I only do leg makeup now

ladylush · 21/04/2010 13:14

Thanks CMOTdibbler - useful to know. I think I'll try the airbrush one you suggested.

By the way, do you buy the fair shade?

I would second the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs one, have used many a time and it really works.

TerryWogansTrousers · 21/04/2010 13:25

and yes, I buy the fair shade. I think if I didn't, it would go orangey/streaky.

Am hoping not to have to use it soon as I have just applied the much hyped St Moritz mousse so fingers crossed it won't go streaky! Otherwise I'll be using Sally Hansen to disguise the streaks!

ladylush · 21/04/2010 13:27

Thanks TWT - yes think I'll go for the fair one. Hope you escape the dreaded streaks. Let us know how you get on with the St Moritz mousse

CMOTdibbler · 21/04/2010 13:30

Yes, the fair one - think the darker would look a bit american tan on me

TerryWogansTrousers · 21/04/2010 13:30

and ladylush- i have the palest legs in Christendom.

ladylush · 21/04/2010 13:38

Can't be paler than mine

CMOTdibbler · 21/04/2010 13:49

St Moritz mousse has been on for two hours now and the colour shows no signs of streaking, hurrah!

ladylush · 21/04/2010 14:15

Fantastic Can you give us an update tomorrow as well please Was it easy to apply?

St Moritz mousse update!

It was lovely and non streaky, fantastic in fact. It's quite subtle (I got the fair version) but I am going to do another layer, and I know it has worked because I took a photo before and after to see if it had worked.
I have never before had such an effective fake tan; I normally like Ambre Solaire No Streaks Bronzer, but this is a quarter of the price AND the bottle will last longer AND it's a more convincing colour (on me at least)

The only thing I like more about the Ambre Solaire is that I can do my own back because it's a dry mist spray that you don't have to rub in. But I just got my mate to do my back, no probs.

It does smell a little bit fake tanny but not that bad. I used gloves to rub it in by the way, it stains instantly so I think it would not be a good idea to apply glove or mitt-less.

ladylush · 23/04/2010 15:02

Thanks TWT - great news I will bear that in mind for the future when I want a more lasting effect. Hope it wears off uniformly without streaking. Hurrah for St Moritz

I was impressed with the sally hansen stuff. A really natural look and very easy to blend. It didn't look tanned as such but at least meant I wasn't glow white.
