Me too will watch with interest.Have dry skin and bought some expensive creams promising just this over the last few weeks .
Now have spots on my chin and I never get spots. On the plus side flaky dry bits mostly eliminated.

cornsilk · 18/04/2010 18:26

what like beauty flash balm recommendations or something more miraculous?

insprognito · 18/04/2010 18:27

My hands are the worst have gloves in a bottle at the mo tried all sorts. Short of a transplant my hands will always look 20 yrs older than the rest of me.

southeastastra · 18/04/2010 18:27

cornsilk · 18/04/2010 18:29

What about chanel vitalumiere foundation?

traceybath · 18/04/2010 18:38

Botox and teeth whitening

But seriously - get plenty of sleep, drink lots, 3 brazil nuts a day apparently and lots of moisturiser.

And then some good make up - that ByTerry stuff from Space NK is meant to be amazing.

dolphin13 · 18/04/2010 18:38

Bit expensive cornsilk but I would pay if it worked. Is it really that good.

dolphin13 · 18/04/2010 18:39

tracybath, does it count if the brazil nuts are chocolate coated

soapboxqueen · 18/04/2010 18:41

Chanel vitalumiere is nice and the shiney powder too.

When I want to look all healthy and glowy, I do this:

Use a primer, or beauty flash balm. Then use a tinted moisturiser. Concealer where necessary. Cream blusher. Then after you've done your eye make up get a highlighter - like touche eclat or the benefit one and put dots on brow bone and cheek bone, sort of in a C shape and mirror on other side iyswim. Very little dots, tiny amount and blend in. Natural but a bit shiny lipstick

If you don't have any highlighter try a tiny bit of any kind of balm type product, just to give you a bit of shine, but I'd only put on my cheekbone then and use a powder highlighter if you have on browbone. Ta la, what hangover?

plimsolls · 18/04/2010 18:53

Think its got to be a multi-level approach. My tips:

Drink lots of water (or dilute wine with ice cubes )

Exfoliate gently but regularly

Moisturise day + night (plus diff one for under eyes). I use a heavy moisturiser at night and Tesco Make Up range "facelift" moisturiser for the day, it has got luminous-bits in.

Use an illuminating primer (benefit hollywood glo is good but def needs foundation on top or you'll look too shimmery. Also, it is quite bronzey so be careful if still winter-pale)

A good foundation (Diorskin natural glow is good)

Depending on if you are using a primer or not, use a highlighter on top. I use a Ruby + Millie one which is too much if you put on direct but great if you rub on your palms then rub on face. Wouldn't use with primer as think would be overkill.

JunoWatt · 18/04/2010 18:54

you need vitalum

also exfoliate every other day

JunoWatt · 18/04/2010 18:54

water and its effect on skin is a BIG BEAUTY mYTH

JunoWatt · 18/04/2010 18:55

Skin Myth #2: Water.
If you drink water all day every day, it doesn?t mean your skin will improve. As long as you?re drinking the standard eight glasses a day, you?ll be hydrated and your skin will look its best. Remember, as long as you?re healthy, your skin will look good. There are no shortcuts.

plimsolls · 18/04/2010 18:56

IMO, the standard 8 glasses of water is "lots of water"

catastrojb · 18/04/2010 19:00

Bizarrely the one thing that instantly (and I mean within a day or two) improved my skin was washing with water only. Seriously. I laughed at my sister when she did it, but one week I ran out of cleanser and had no time to get any, so I just used water. Amazing. I had spots all over my chin for years - not loads, but enough for me to get a bit pissed off. Have barely had a handful since (in a year).

I do use decennt moisturiser, and at the moment I like the Olay touch of foundation ones - soft skin and people keep saying how well I look...

MartinlovesDebi · 18/04/2010 19:03

I like facegoop on water.

cyb · 18/04/2010 19:23

alwys exfoliate

is that chanel stuf really really good? I will ask YOU for a refund if it deosnt deliver

southeastastra · 18/04/2010 20:18

DunderMifflin · 18/04/2010 20:18

catastrojb - how do you wash your face with just water?!

How do get make up off, do you wash it morning and night with only water, how hot, etc?

Waiting for a response with interest as I need to stock up on Liz Earle again soon..!
