Surely someone must do these? My one year old is simply not going to keep a hat on otherwise. I cannot face spending the whole summer chasing him around the park with the blasted hat!

I had the same issue last year with my son and the 2 places that actually had decent hats were Gap and H and M. The H and M one still fits (just) but I am hoping Gap still has them this year as it was a great hat, and I had so many mums come up and ask where it was from. Bit of a holy grail for boys I think, there seem to be many more options for girls

We just bought a reversible one from Gap with Velcro chin straps.

anchovies · 16/04/2010 19:46

I haven't looked yet this year but I normally get sun hats from gap which have chin straps, worth a look if you're passing.

I have always got mine from mothercare - or you could sew on some ribbons for tie straps, or stick velco at the end. Let me have a look...

anchovies · 16/04/2010 19:47

Ha! Looks like gap is the place to go!

scurryfunge · 16/04/2010 19:48

Oh yes, I got one from Gap too, maybe that's the mothercare one I am thinking of... it was really nice

aarghhelp · 17/04/2010 07:49

jalopy · 17/04/2010 08:05

I just sewed ribbons on.

Daffodilly · 17/04/2010 09:30

Excellent - knew you folks would have the answer. Will get to Gap.

Reckon there should be a new LAW that hats for the under 5s should come with childproof ties!

I've seen some in john lewis and some in marks and spencer

also marks have a new summer kids catslgue thing which has two £5 off vouchers when you spend £25. Not that I can find anything I like/ fits in there for ds.

edwardcullensotherwoman · 18/04/2010 22:49

try ebay - lots on there, called bush hats for some reason

mussyh · 26/04/2010 20:18

I bought a Tuga hat for my daughter last year (2 years old & bought medium). It is wonderful with a really wide brim, and adjustable cord under the chin. They do these in a range of designs for boys and girls.(see US site www.tugasunwear.com)

I got ours in a local London baby shop (Rub a dub) in N8, and am now looking to buy one for my older son. I have found them at www.beachfactory.com - not the full range, but enough to choose from.

florenceuk · 26/04/2010 20:24

IME kids will just whip off hats with velcro straps as well! But John Lewis is worth a try as well as Gap.

FlyingChick · 04/05/2010 22:22

Have a look at www.justkidshats.co.uk where you can find Tuga hats plus loads of others for kids from 1-14 years old. Website has lots of great designs for both boys/girls and hats come with a variety of chin straps.
