I am now the slightly sheepish owner of a batik maxi dress from Peacocks

In delicate shades of purple and turquoise. I always feel the urge to break out in colours come spring

I wore it with a denim jacket and some DMs. DH did a double take and said it took him back 20yrs to my student days.

20 quite well spent.

Ooh good for you..sounds great! And minus 20 yrs for 20 quid = Bargain for sure, I'd say

Reminds me I need a Primark recce - haven't been for ages.

sherby · 16/04/2010 19:21

I love maxi dresses and denim jackets tis a good look

DecorHate · 16/04/2010 19:53

Bendybob - Primark had similar dresses when I was in there this week

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 16/04/2010 20:03

Nice. I can't wear maxi dresses as I am a) too short and b) will be too pg for them come summer. Last time I was pg I tried one and I looked like a teepee.

SixtyFootDoll · 16/04/2010 20:23

I was looking at Peacocks Maxis yesterday they are really nice
I had one from there last year and EVERYONE commented on it.
Dont be sheepish be thrilled how littlee you spent on looking so good!

OrmRenewed · 17/04/2010 08:02

Thanks folks.

I am hooked on long dresses now. Will have a look for some more. Spent winter in jeans or leggings and knitted dresses and tunics. Black, grey, red..... and now I want break out!

I saw a woman yesterday in flat sandals and a blue and white striped maxi and a long red thin cardigan - she looked fantastic.

Definitely on the hunt for one now

NorkilyChallenged · 17/04/2010 08:13

I love the sound of that.

I am afraid of maxi dresses (even though it's exactly what I was wearing 20 years ago) because they don't flatter the flat-chest. Plus I seem to have grown enormous flabby upper arms in the last year

OrmRenewed · 17/04/2010 08:20

THe upper arms issue is the reason I was wearing the jacket over the top.

Ok, I gave in and bought a maxi dress today, but it is a clingy one rather than a floaty cotton one, so I will hopefully look less like a teepee when heavily pg. It's this one, and looks fab!

Feelingsensitive · 17/04/2010 19:11

Looks lovely Bumper. I might even try one on. I had just assumed they woudnt suit me but perhaps I am wrong.

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 17/04/2010 20:37

Defo better than the floaty ones, even when not pg IMO.

APassionateWoman · 17/04/2010 20:38

I love maxi dresses on other people, but they make me look like Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Too tall. Too busty. Too much of a belly. Upper arms not good.

NoahAndTheWhale · 17/04/2010 20:53

I saw some in Peacocks today and had to remind myself I am not buying any clothes for the foreseeable future
