These flipflops brill for the orthotically inclined who want to look normal

Tried fit flops but they're wrong on me. Foot is narrow and I don't really like them in any case. Got these and they are dreamy, school run a mile up a hill comfy. If you are flat footed and rolled in kneed like me (you lucky pup) you'll love 'em.

Scholl Wave fitflops I will be living in this summer

they are not v. nice though.

ZoneArmatrading · 15/04/2010 16:46

Better in RL. And normal looking really. Nothing special. Just a flip flop that's brilliantly supportive and comfortable.

if they were pretty i would buy 10, flip flops and flat shoe generally make my feet ache

SummerToad · 15/04/2010 20:56

they look like the shoes lifeguards wear

mistressploppy · 15/04/2010 21:07

I like the look of them. Have got fit flops but they're a bit crap/chunky.

I'm not flat-footed but I do have friendly knees, might try them

cyb · 15/04/2010 21:19

the straps always come too far back

my feet would look so vile in those I can't even bear to think about it

I have some Scholl orthotic support ones I bought about 4 years ago, they completely cured my sciatica when combined with the orthaheel inserts for normal shoes and boots, I'm hoping to get one more summer out of them, then it's on to these for me too, agree not the most stylish footwear but unfortunately pain relief is higher priority than style for my footwear. I don't have flat feet, in fact have high arches, but very wide, so flip flop type are great for me except my little toes can hang over the side a bit and get stubbed.

Can't wear normal, flat flip flops for more than a couple of hours at a time, but must have walked hundreds of miles quite happily in the orthotic ones.

indigobarbie · 16/04/2010 07:34

oh thanks for posting up this link, they are not bad and actually look normal. Am wildy jealous of all the folk that can wear other styles of flipflops, but the pain is not worth it for me either.
I really need arch support as my feet fell even more during pregnancy and I was already a mad overpronator when running. Comfort is totally the most important thing, tears over shoes is not attractive I had tried birkenstocks as they are also supportive but take a bit to wear them in, and they are a bit more expensive too.

mistressploppy · 16/04/2010 08:56

That's interesting, MrsDinky - I have sciatica too, I wonder if these will help

(also have high arches)

CoupleofKooks · 16/04/2010 09:05

oh thank you they do look normal
to the poster who said "they are not that nice though" - when you can't wear any normal sandals and flip flops these look VERY nice indeed IMO!

deaddei · 16/04/2010 09:22

And they stop at size 8- grrr!

ZoneArmatrading · 16/04/2010 17:21

Glad to be of help. Oh boo deaddie that's a shame.

Bariatric, aren't you cutting your feet off though?

hmm too beachy for me

MrsMeow · 16/04/2010 17:25

How strange, have just been talking about my flat feet on another thread, then scroll down and see these!

I really don't get on with the thong type flip flops, but will be interested to see if they do any other type. I've been thinking for ages that I should get some 'proper' ortho shoes - lucky me!

I'm glad to see that there are others that 'suffer' though. I'm actually quite self conscious about it. Would love to wear ballet flats etc, but just can't

MrsDinky · 16/04/2010 17:50

The only type of shoes I can wear are frumpy cover your whole foot types, because of the high instep and needing orthotics too, anything that cuts across the top of the foot is impossible, which rules out any type of court shoe, even the flat comfy Clarks typs with a strap over the instep cut my feet up. I live in boots and orthotic sandals. Even boots are a problem as I have sturdy calves. Which means either expenive DUO type boots or not being able to wear a skirt or dress from September to April. Sorry, just venting! On the plus side my wide feet mean big toe gaps and no problems with the bit of flip flops that goes between your toes, so it's not all bad...

I am glad I am not the only one with these type of problems!

CoupleofKooks · 16/04/2010 21:32
