anyone know which boys' trainers are a narrower fit?

DS is 3.10 and a size 7. I think his width is an E. Today he tried on a pair of Geox in size 25 and the length was good but they were a bit too wide and an insole didn't help.

He tried on some Skechers in a 7 and they were a good fit - but while he loved them, I really didn't - too clumpy and they all had those flashing lights on which tbh give me a headache (I know, very grumpy mum!).

Anyone know of anything that would have a similar fit to Skechers/comes up fairly narrow?

I absolutely love Converse & have heard they are good for narrow feet but I think they are out because he needs velcro rather than laces. Anyone got any other ideas?

Ah, I was about to post something similar. DS is an F, but we seem to struggle with trainers.

Have you tried start-rite shoes?

GoldenGreen · 15/04/2010 12:28

No, haven't tried start-rite - will have a google and look at the styles, thanks

Am surprised that Geox were no good, since he's an E. I though that the narrowest in Clarks was an E, although they don't do them for all styles. My son is a C, so Clarks are no good for him, but Geox are. Next can be fairly narrow. Anything made in Spain/France/Italy is generally ok, we find. I seems that childrens' feet here are, on average, wider than on the continent.

I was surprised too, since he's had Geox before and they seemed fine - but they definitely did look a bit wide today. Might go back and try a different style...Also will try Next at the weekend, thanks.

My parents are often in Greece and bring back an Italian brand called Crocodilino for him which is great.

try Puma we had these for DS and had to buy a different brand

LIZS · 15/04/2010 12:49

dd has Merrell trainers atm which seem nbarrower (ds is wider and his are noticeably on a looser setting. Geox come up wide, Timberland tend to be narrow or have a choice of insoles to adapt the width a bit

GoldenGreen · 15/04/2010 14:39

great, thanks

you can get velcro converse now - converse are good for narrow feet.

we have always found geox to be ok too.

IMoveTheStars · 15/04/2010 15:25

velcro converse? Have you got a link? [far too excited about this]

IMoveTheStars · 15/04/2010 15:28

nevermind

Pollyanna · 15/04/2010 17:03

i saw some in Office - and my nephew who is nearly 3 (and iirc is a size 7) has some.

chegirlWILLbeserene · 15/04/2010 17:17

I get trainers from sports.com (in real life not online).

They sell Lonsdale trainers which are leather but cheap. They do a slip on style which is narrow. I think the slip ons tend to be narrower generally. Maybe you could look for that sort?

GoldenGreen · 15/04/2010 18:55

ooh well done Jareth! Now if I can find some in red, we're sorted . Will check in Office.

Hadn't thought of slip on styles, but that's just because I don't like wearing slip on shoes. Probably be great for ds.

GoldenGreen - have searched, but can't find any red ones will you post a link if you manage to find any?

DS tried on some converse-type velcro shoes in Sainsbury's, but they were at least a G width, so useless. [pout]

Try Superfit - they're a European brand - very good quality and fab styles. They're a narrow fit. Here's an example of some www.shoeson.co.uk/kids-boys/brand/Superfit/15/ You could also try some of the Hush Puppies styles, not necessarily trainers but they do have separate footbeds to adjust the fitting of each individual shoe so if your child has different size/width feet then you can fit each foot - it's very clever. Most of their styles come with the footbeds which are E/F/G fittings - you can also 'make' D and H fittings too.

Good luck with your search.

I hope this helps you.
