Smart but comfy outfit for a little boy

DP and I are getting married this July. We have a DS who with be 2.5 and I'm stuck on what to get him to wear.

I hate those little morning suits, not keen on shirts and ties. I want something smarter than his usual jeans/t-shirt get up but still comfortable and practicle for a toddler that doesn't cost the earth. Preferably something nice and colourful.

What's the equivalent of a fab party dress for a boy?

I always used to bung my boys in a polo shirt and tank top and niceish trousers

You can get really colourful dungarees if you search tinternet - he could wear with a polo shirt or smarter shirt and some groovy shoes. I love the Kickers lego branded shoes but they are v pricey. There are some bright green dungarees on a website I've recommended already today (honest - I don't work for them!) www.thehedgepig.co.uk

Would second Cyb. My DS used to have a lovely pair of linen 3/4 trousers, white polo and cream/white tank from la Redoute. Obviously they didn't stay clean for long - but they washed well!Monsoon also did linen trousers and little waistcoats with a linen grandad shirt. They looked smart but weren't too hot. Hopefully it will be sunny when you get married. Congratulations btw.

DS1's wedding outfit (he went to alot of them) between 2 and 3 was a striped pair of trousers, a white neru shirt (no collar to irritate) and tank top from Jojomamanbebe - he looked v sweet in it and was comfy running around - and didnt cost a fortune either. Hope you have a fab wedding.

My little one has black velvet trousers and waistcoat from Monsoon (big sale reduction). We went to a party at the weekend and he wore them with a funky black Tshirt and a red check shirt from Frugi (currently in the sale). It looked smartish and colourful but not fussy. It was defo the male equivalent of a party frock!

A cooler more summery option might be to go nautical. jojo maman bebe do some stuff in Navy and red which looks very cute esp matching sets with sunhats etc. That would be comfy for running around in and fairly traditional, with a nod to sailor suits, but in a comfy cottony and unstarched way.

Try darcy brown (used to be Kent & Carey), they have some lovely things which aren't too formal

My DS is only 12 months, but in future, his wedding look would prob go something like:

this

these

and these

My 2 ds's were pageboys for my sister last year - aged 4 qnd 2 - they wore stone coloured linen suits with a short sleeved shirt under looked fab for the ceremony then took the jackets off and were running round the grounds in trousers and shirt - really comfy and happy! They looked so cute with orange gerbera buttonholes!

We got them from Next but M&S had some similar and sure they will do again this year.

I like the 3/4 trousers & tank top idea. vertbaudet have a nice preppy looking cream tank at the moment which could work.

Good thing with that is I could take the top of for dinner then put it back on to cover the stains after

I was thinking JojoMammanBebe too. Nice smart classics, not too trendy, not to formal.
