Reebok Reetone

Do they work or are they 'snake oil' trainers?

I could be persuaded by the advert, but then I think I think it will take more than a pair of Reetone to make my backside firm and peachy .

I don't know but I want some. And some FitFlops. Please buy both on my behalf and report back. TIA

saltyseadog · 14/04/2010 18:31

Trust me shiny, my arse and thighs would be the ultimate test for them at present. I delivered ds 3 weeks ago and now have 2.75 stone to lose to get back to my pre-natal weight .

Snake-oil.

They tone you up "more than regular trainers"- which do nowt. So infitessimal changes to your muscles which come from the balance needed to adjust to walking and standing in them all count, as far as the ad is concerned, but they won't be anything you can see.

If the fact you've shelled out makes you do more exercise, then they will make a difference, but that will be from what you are doing rather than the trainers.

ShinyAndNew · 14/04/2010 18:34

2.75 st? Pah. That's nothing. I refuse to divulge my pregnancy weight gain or the fat that my youngest is almost 3 and it's still here [oops]

I think they work like a balance board. So you need to utilise more muscles to stay steady on them, thus increase the amount of calories burnt when walking/running and improve muscle tone and posture.

Unfortunately they won't work unless A) you actually walk further than the corner shop in them and B) you diet at the same time.

But the science bit makes sense to me.

DecorHate · 14/04/2010 18:39

I also was rather seduced by an ad for these in a magazine.... Am waiting views of someone who has tried them in RL before I shell out though - anyone know how much they cost?

birdsandblossoms · 14/04/2010 18:55

the advert is awful you would have to have legs and a bum like that to start with i watched it when on the treadmill at the gym and thought wtf?

PlumSykes · 14/04/2010 19:58

Lots of people have great faith in MBTs though, don't they? They must surely work on the same principle, no?

How much are they?

Alouiseg · 14/04/2010 20:02

Fit flops definitely do work though.

I wore mine on a two week walkathon round theme parks in Florida. Dh and dc wore trainers they all had sore feet at the end of each day, I had cool lovely feet but aching thighs and butt and zero cellulite when i got home.

justallovertheplace · 14/04/2010 20:07

I fuckign hate the advert for this. My dd is 5 and was wide eyed at the non-wobbly arses on display. She doesn't see any of that in this house, it's just not in the genes

BitOfFun · 14/04/2010 20:09

I've had MBTs. They didn't do much for me, and were rather hot and heavy. Which is great for some things, but not footwear.

birdsandblossoms · 14/04/2010 20:40

the advert does make me feel a bit uncomfortable . its the kind of advert i would have hated when sitting with my brothers or my Dad very cringeworthy

PlumSykes · 14/04/2010 20:49

I had MBTs too, but they were so bloody uncomfortable that I never walked anywhere. And judging by my arse/legs, just having them isn't enough. You've actually got to put them on and go out and stuff.

Would like to think the Reeboks might work-then would sell stupid MBTs and get them instead.

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 14/04/2010 21:17

I have MBTs and while they have cured my backache I haven't noticed any difference in leg tone, only had them a couple of weeks but don't notice any muscle aching in calves like after a brisk walk which you might expect if they're working the muscles harder.

saltyseadog · 14/04/2010 21:42

They're £60 - £80, depending on which model you plump for.

And seem v.popular - hard to find any in stock .

I have Chung Shi trainers and definitely feel achy in my leg muscles when I wear them a lot. I suspect I need to do some real diet and exercise for them to make an actual difference though!
