www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_103010293512_-1?breadcrumb=Home%7EWomen %7EDresses

note i am not as tall as that model and am only 5ft 3. dress is maybe about 2 inches above the knee. 3 at most.

my mother says she likes the dress ( its for her wedding_ but that its a bit short and that i should wear magic knickers under it and maybe a 'slip'.

magic knickers wont make me a different shape. the dress looks great on me and hides he not so good area ( tummy ) very very well. since the skirt bit is drapey it looks really good.

and slip....wtf!!!!! she said she has to wear slips with skirts in case they go a bit camel toe.... i think she has gone insane.

am wearing with these shoes www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=20&viewAllFlag=false&cata logId=20552&storeId=12552&categoryId=51585&parentcategoryrn=51581&productId=1659790&langId=-1

since you are short(ish)it should be fine. Ignore your mother. But do wear sturdy pants as a precautionary measure. It is a wedding.

Pennies · 13/04/2010 22:50

Nice dress. Not keen on the shoes. Would wear a nude shoe with that dress. Otherwise too matchy matchy.

Is your mum the one that wants you to get your ears pierced for her big day?

champagnesupernova · 13/04/2010 22:51

It is QUITE short.
Depends on how confident you are
And time of wedding/venue etc
Prob too short for a church do imo

Well, it's not what I would wear to a wedding, but I don't think it's too short! Maybe your Mum's is worried about you flashing folk, hence the request for big knickers?

minxofmancunia · 13/04/2010 22:56

It's fine and so are the shoes. there are always lots of threads on "correct" wedding atire on here.

I'm v interested to know what "one" is "supposed" to wear to a wedding? (although I will continue to wear what I want anyway, just interested)

shoptilidrop · 13/04/2010 22:59

nope she is just obsessed with big knickers. she keeps going on to sister about it too.
i told her this afternoon that if she didnt stop going on i might wear non

yes she is the one who wants me to get my ears pierced.

its not at a church, its a venue place, wedding.reception all being held there.

im 31 ( though usually get mistaken for 26 ish) and have good legs.

i was going to go with nude shoes. but they didnt look right. the shoes are sveral shades darker than the dress so are ok.

well i did try something longer on but just did not feel comftable at all. long dresses drown me and i feel like ive raided my mums dressing up box or something. Im not a hat wearing person either and would not wear a suit type thing.

3 inches above the knee at most.

It's a cute dress and would be nice for a wedding, but probably not as daughter of the bride dress because maybe her friendship circle would thing it was a bit disrespectful being short and flimsy, so you wearing the slip and magic knickers would make the material less floaty look more bulky I suppose, I dunno I'm guessing...I like the dress.

JustMyTwoPenceWorth · 13/04/2010 23:03

I think it's a bit short.

shoptilidrop · 13/04/2010 23:06

her friendship circle are all younger than her.
i dont think anyone would think it was innapropiate. maybe i might wear magic knicers.....??? but i am not wearing a slip.

so, out of interest what would you think a young 30 year old should wear to her mothers wedding.. and its not allowed to cost more than £50.

what about this?

shoptilidrop · 13/04/2010 23:13

dont like it sorry.

i did try a few longer ones on but like i said they just feel like im borrowing some grown ups clothes. i just feel drowned in them. or like im wearing a tent.

OP posts:
samsonara · 13/04/2010 23:22

oh well in that case it shouldn't be an issue, you've already said it's not that short on you. Now if friend asked me to find things for less than £50, I'd check out bhs, and show her these

Hi there! I'm also pretty short, and def think that the pictures of models wearing dresses can be deceiving! I think as long as you're confident in it you will wear it well.

If you're worried nearer the time I could totally see a nice long cream pashmina draped over your arms-somehow a pashmina always makes me feel more covered up!

And I LOVE the shoes! As long as you're happy in it I say go for it! I also can't help giggling at the 'magic knickers and slip'! Will u be expected to flash these to prove you are not a harlot?

WhasThisAllAbout · 14/04/2010 09:10

Sorry-just re-read that, obviously a pashmina makes you more covered up-I just meant even though it doesn't cover your legs,it can make u feel less exposed! Am I making sense?

Note to self-stop posting too early, your brain isn't functioning yet!
