I'm 12 weeks PG, currently just fat-looking as oppossed to pregnant but already feeling very tight in my clothes, so I've been looking around for maternity clothes. I usually have a sort of polished vintage look, I wear tea dresses most of the time, a sort of 1940s/50s look. I get most of my clothes from ebay rather than the high street. I can't seem to find anything smart-ish in maternity wear (apart from one dress from Next which I'm living in) everything seems to be sleeveless for a start - why??? I want to hide my bingo-wings, not flaunt them, and I don't want to wear jeans and tunics, they're not really me. I'm not as superficial as I sound, I'd just like to still feel like me while enjoying having a bump. Any websites you can recommend, or am I fighting a losing battle? I've looked at Blooming, M+P's, Jojo, etc - no joy. I just want something smart, vintage-looking, with sleeves...????

Hello fellow vintage queen I am more 60s-70s, but had exactly the same problem.

It's worth rummaging in vintage shops- I lived in a stretchy leopard print number I got very cheaply.

Also, look in places you would rather be seen dead in, as all bets are off when it comes to maternity wear- this for instance is nice; don't rule out the horror shops

Topshop do a few nice pieces- here also.

You could get something like this, this or this and wear scarves and jewellery, or tea dresses are available, if not completely authentic.

This and this are also nice.

Do NOT be tempted down the tunic and leggings route. It's a slippery slope

Oh, and get some flat shoes for the latter stages. You'll need them.

Thanks for your suggestions! At the moment footless tights and ballerina pumps are a godsend, I'm trying to channel an obese Audrey Hepburn vibe. I don't have an aversion to high street (if I like it I'll wear it, whether it's from Oxfam or Chanel!), I just can't fit into Topshop... I'm a size 16 and their 16s are really very small 14s... ugh I just feel very frumpy and unglamourous at the moment!

Ooh, that Mothercare dress is right up my street, nice find! I did go into the store but didn't look on the website. Thanks X
