Non-feathery, sexy shorter hair dos. For the love of God, please help

I have a hair appt on Saturday. I have had long hair forever. My hair is medium thickness (fine, but lots of it), dead straight and very dark brown. Slightly layered at front and am growing out a side fringe (its about chin length now).

I want something that looks styled (I am willing to style it daily, but not some sort of epic palaver - a 10 min jobbie, maybe). I want a grown up look but not 'Mum'-ish...something that looks 'done'. I am sick of having little girl's hair in a ponytail when I am in my 30s!

I cannot do any 'elfin chique', pixie-ish, feathery do's, as have a strong-ish jaw and strong features (dark eyebrows, full lips, piercing eyes or so I've been told).

I am pale skinned and very tall, about a size 14 if that makes any difference.

Please help!

Would you do a bob?

Don't think I could pull of heavy fringe. My brows are really dark and defined, and frame my face. Would feel weird to cover them up. Plus I am not svelte and young like Katie

Any more sugestions?

I have a bob (no fringe) which is slightly longer at the front than at the back, and which has a layer or two at the back to give it some texture and movement. So I can blow dry it and have the front very slick, or I can dry it upside down and have hair that looks deliberately messy. I like it a lot.
It's not a Pob, btw - nowhere near as layered at the back as that.
My hair sounds like yours- fine, but hairdressers groan over how much of it there is.

Was watching Friends today and struck by how much I ADORE (and always did) Rachel's hair in that series. Is a v short bob but with sort of layered, straightened ends (used to do my hair similar- you cut up into the hair). here

Mine is short. I like how I get up and it's done!

Her hair looked gorgeous - chin length straight bob with a side parting, cut short into the back of her neck.

Adair, I love Jennifer Aniston's hair in that pic - totally gorgeous - but as I'm brunette I wonder if it would look a bit 'flat' on me. She has that lovely golden hair with lots of different highlights/low lights through it.
