Help! If you have a dd(15) who lives in Allstars and jeans - come tell me - what would she wear to a wedding?

Summer wedding on the South Coast of England.

DD loves clothes but hasn't worn a skirt since she was a 3 yr old!

What kind of look?

what abotu some cool harem type pants? and glads

Bonsoir · 12/04/2010 14:24

A bubble dress, ballet flats and an oversized handbag.

SuSylvester · 12/04/2010 14:24

she can still wear trousers - just alter hte fabric
still look all messy but glamourously so.
is she thin?

SuSylvester · 12/04/2010 14:25

not glads
heeels maybe
long necklace

SuSylvester · 12/04/2010 14:25

or a dreaded playsut?

meltedmarsbars · 12/04/2010 14:26

Silver/sparkly converses and smartish culottes or linen shorts or capri pants?

My dd1 (11) also never wears skirts. Her current smart outfit is linen shorts and smart t-shirt.

mumonthenet · 12/04/2010 14:35

ooo good, the stylequeens are online!

Thanks for ideas.

Yes, she's thin, long straight hair, sporty.

What are glads?

I've done smart shorts to a wedding
So...
cropped cardi in bright colour (cerise/lime would be ace)
Black fitted tshirt
smart shorts
heels

MayorNaze · 12/04/2010 14:46

gladiator sandals are glads.

what famous people does she like? do they wear the kind of think she would like\you would approve of?

MaineGirl · 12/04/2010 14:47

tunic dress, leggings, smart flats and some fun jewellery?

mumonthenet · 12/04/2010 15:02

love the ideas...thanks.

she would probably go down the tunic/leggings route. Or the shorts/harem pants.

Cropped bright cardi is nice...wonder if she'd go for it.

She wears quite muted colours, is very pretty but doesn't like to draw attention.

Doubt if she'd wear a puffball or heels. Likes classic stuff but with a fashion edge...wears baggy jeans with a coloured strappy vest topped by a thin v-neck sweater or a long cardi. Sometimes drainpipes too, but always with Vans, Allstars, or, Merrills.

Hang on,

shorts with bare legs I suppose in summer?

Anyone got any websites?

SuSylvester · 12/04/2010 15:07

she need to try on i think - will she?
surely she can wear adult stuff?
they normally like river island at that age

bellissima · 12/04/2010 15:09

Can't really add anything - just remembering my younger sister turning up to a rather staid cousin's wedding in full goth mode.... my mother just dragged her out of any photo opportunity.....

mumonthenet · 12/04/2010 15:21

arf....no goth mode in this house at present luckily! Your brave mother!

Yes she will try on - loves buying new clothes. Did ask me if I thought jeans would be ok at wedding. But is willing to try new styles.

Am only asking on here so I can give her some ideas. but she knows what she likes so I won't (and don't want to) be dictating what she wears. As long as it's not goth!

Must run. Back later.

Have a look in the day dresses section on the river island website, its flash so i cant link

there's some smock dresses that are a bit different which may look nice with legging or black skinnies and some nice pumps

KristinaM · 12/04/2010 21:23

what bonsoiranna said

if she usually wears converse she should be ok in ballet flats

KristinaM · 12/04/2010 21:30

or a prom dress like this with bright cropped cardi and ballet flats

geometric

hearts playsuit but could pass for dress

UnrequitedSkink · 12/04/2010 21:38

Some sort of tailored blazer with rolled up sleeves a la Moss, with one of those fringed scarves. Over either a white fitted T and shorts, or a floral dress and ballet pumps. A slightly masculine blazer will contrast very nicely with the dress.

UnrequitedSkink · 12/04/2010 21:40

Love love love this blazer and it has a multitude of uses - looks great over skinny jeans!

mumonthenet · 15/04/2010 08:33

thanks sazzle, kristina and unrequited.

Yes, I think she will go for some kinda smock/dress over leggings/skinny jeans.

I suppose she can wear skinny jeans if the top and shoes are smart enough .

She would love that jacket unrequited! She did talk about a blazer from Bershka.
