2 years ago EVERYONE had this tunic...

here and I was heavily pregnant but I thought it suited every single person I saw in it so bought a teeny size as an incentive. Two years later it finally fits and I want to wear it, but I have knee issues. I cannot show the backs of my knees, they are stretchmarked to high heaven, though the actual marks are silvery now. So, what do I wear with this? I was adament on another thread that dresses and jeans are a big NOOOOOOO. But here I am contemplating just that. I am a size eight to ten now, having been an 18 since ds was born so it pees me off that I can't just be happy. But back to the question. Do you have this dress? What do you wear with it? I want to get some sandals to make a change from my ever present flip flops so I was considering maybe some gladiators and jeggings? Or should I just feign an injury and bandage my knees for all eternity? Now there's an idea... Am 26 and 5 foot 7 if that helps

I have that in black. It is very pretty in white too.

I wear with either leggings in this weather or bare legs when it's warm. I don't think I'd wear it with jeans, possibly jeggings though.

As for stretch marks, forget they're there, we've all got them somewhere.

Well done for the weight loss, that pretty impressive, what's your secret?

It does great things for my tits too Kerry
I wore it today and it made me feel positively Elizabeth Bennet like. I wore it with rolled up skinnies and jewelled cream flip flops in the end. And was complimented lots on the dress, and my apparently skinny arms. Good day all round. Going on a mission to get some navy leggings tomorrow though. Interestingly we popped into poundland on the way home (I know, the glamour) and they had vatloads of Pretty Polly leg lotions and potions. Considering going back to get some and see if it makes a difference

I don't own it, never have.

I don;t own a shred of clothing from Primark

Passay · 12/04/2010 19:50

adn we dont need help wiht tits do we ndp?

APassionateWoman · 12/04/2010 19:52

You're never, ever going to go bare-legged again because you ave stretchmarks? Don't do it to yourself!

We come in all shapes and sizes. We all have blemishes and imperfections.

FGS, woman, get your legs out!

Hell, I'm a 32 dd, I don't need help either. But this dress definately shows them to their best advantage
And yes, I am never going bare legged again. I've tried desperately to google image you something that remotely resembles my knees and I'm having no success. If you could see it, you'd understand. I'm grateful of all the dare to bare advice, but really, it's not going to happen

i've never even seen it before tbh. it's not that memorable

helyg · 12/04/2010 20:16

I have a tunic very similar to this, it didn't come from Primark but it is a very similar shape. In fact I love it so much that I have it in three colours: white, green and blue.

I wear it with jeans

not your tits 32dd'er. i meant the top.

the clothes always look vile to me in primark. Nothing to do with poor people. I have been in a couple of them but they just look like jumble sales full of bad quality clothing.

justallovertheplace · 12/04/2010 20:28

I wasn't saying primark is a bastion of good taste and fine quality. Merely noting that this top was very popular a few years back and asking for advice. I will crawl back into my polyester hell hole now

re statement piece. The title of this thread is "2 years ago EVERYONE had this tunic..." I was expecting to see something that would be fairly instantly recognisable (like lots of Next prints are and you see those everywhere too). I don't recall it being ubiquitous but then, to my eyes, it is pretty understated and not something that I would look twice at and recognise again and again.

I didn't criticise anyone's firstborn here. I said I didn't remember a tunic. Easy tiger.

RockSteady · 12/04/2010 20:32

OP was just wondering how to cover her stretchmarked knees, didn't really need an opinion on Primark.
I bet noone will ever notice your stretchmarks but if you do feel self conscious you could use sally hansen leg make up,works really well for me

Passay · 12/04/2010 20:34

i have never seen that tunic in my life gov.

NomDePlume · 12/04/2010 20:35

not you justallovertheplace, that post crossed, it was meant in response to Kerrymumbles.

Justabout, the tunic looks fine, as I said understated. Congrats on the weight loss. You should wear what you want to wear with it. Glads and close fitting trousers sounds fine to me.

NomDePlume · 12/04/2010 20:39

Rocksteady - OP may not have asked for my opinion on Primark but someone else on the thread did.

Lizzylou · 12/04/2010 20:46

I don't remember that tunic, but to be fair, have only been in Primark 3 times in my life. I don't live that close to one and every time I have ventured in have come out laden.

I still have a tunic (more wintery) that even my v posh, rich stylista mate covets, have never seen anyone else in it and it always gets compliments.

Anyway, back to op, congrats on weightloss and have you applied lots of Bio-oil to affected area? My Mom has significantly reduced her stretchmark covered belly (30 years after her last child) by daily use. Other wise, over slim jeans/treggings/jeggings/trews/leggings that would look lovely.
