Formal dress for toddler, with sleeves?

Is it OK to ask about children's "style and beauty" in this section?

We are going to a wedding next month of a v close friend of DH's next month (he is best man), so am trying to find a really nice dress for DD, aged 2 (also trying to find one for myself, but that's a whole other thread!)

There are some lovely dresses out there, but they all seem to be sleeveless and so expose the shoulders. I am a bit fanatical about covering up in the sun, and as the wedding and reception are both going to be mainly outdoors, I really want to find something that will protect DD's shoulders...but that still looks pretty and eyecatching, and a bit luxurious (bold prints, bright colours, silky fabric maybe) - something that is "special occasion" rather than something you'd wear everyday IYSWIM?

Can anyone help?

How about a lovely summery sleeveless dress with a little shrug/cardy over the top? Then she can take it off indoors later if she's too hot. When DD was a bridesmaid she wore an ivory and gold dress and had a shrug which was ivory with a gold thread running through it. It looked very dressy, but was ideal. Laura Ashley, Monsoon are quite good for that sort of thing generally.

I got DD a really pretty dress from Monsoon and a cream T-shirt to wear underneath in pinafore style. The wedding I originally got it for was in March so I got her a long-sleeved T shirt but have recently got a short-sleeved one for the next wedding in July. In my case, I'm not worried so much about the sun but DD is very prone to getting cold easily as she's a skinny little thing.

Tulip and Nettle sometimes have very pretty old-fashioned dresses with sleeves.

TK max had lots of bridesmaidy dresses in, not sure on the sleeves though

Ooh, like the idea of a shrug on top, or a top underneath, that gives me way more choice Thanks
