Do you think I can argue that these are shoes not trainers?

Not allowed trainers at work, must be flat, black shoes. I'm crippled with back pain and as I'm on my feet for 8 hour shifts have bought these ugly but very expensive shoes. They're meant to cure bad backs.

Am now worried work will say I can't wear them.

depends how strict they are. and how strict your direct manger is.
i worked with someone last year who wore those. and I do know that in the revised uniform policy tis year they have banned all forms of crocs but no mention of MBTs.

well wear them and see what happens

they are an orthopaedic shoe, yes?

ShinyAndNew · 07/04/2010 17:34

To me they are defnately trainers. Although they are very smart looking trainers not like the usual sporty ones. But trainers none the less. Sorry.

They are an orthopedic shoe yes so I'm hoping they will be less strict as they won't want me going off sick with my back again.

I'll just have to argue it if questioned I guess. At least they aren't typical "mesh style" trainers I guess. At the end of the day they're leather.

Thanks.

I have a colleague who wears these (bad back) and TBH they don't look that smart. However in your position I'd get a note from your doctor explaining this will be helpful for you and they'd really have to make an exception for you here.

£175 is a lot of money for something which will get puke and blood on though.

Put it this way- you won't get into a home counties nightclub in them

If you mention them to your boss first, they may well waive the rule for you.

I know I wear Crocs at the moment and can bung them in the washing machine, cheap fake Crocs at that. They're very comfy but just not enough support.

I reckon I can wipe these down with a Flash wipe. Slightly concerned about the Velcro.

have a look at dansko shoes. i buy mine on ebay from the US. i cannot wear anything other than orthopedic shoes or these. at least with dansko shoes i can sometimes get ones that look nicer than trainers.

these are way better than footglove or clarkes. the flatter ones are soooooo comfy.

i tried one pair years ago and was so surprised they are just so good to walk about in. no i don't work for them or have shares in their company. the shoes are very very good.

There are a couple of styles of MBT that are more like shoes here and here.

PrimroseCrabapple · 07/04/2010 21:52

earth shoes maybe?
