"crepey" skin caused by pregnancy / stretch marks - any solutions?

I know someone recently posted a thread about how to minimise / prevent stretch marks, but I have had 2 DC's and its not actually the stretch marks I mind so much (haven't really got many anyway) as the "crepey" skin! IYKWIM.

So I was just wondering if anyone knows anything to help or even improve that particular horrible affliction then I would be eternally grateful!

TIA x

sure you won't want to but putting on weight helps. The less lardy slimmer I am the worse mine looks ... if it's not one thing it's another

exercise helps.

Exercise plus daily moisturisation.

I have crepey stomach too and have found rowing to have helped no end. Anything that focuses on that area, crunches etc.

Daily moisturiser / body lotion will improve the look no end too.

I am really slim (size 8) but not skinny. and I don't want to put on weight!

and I have religiously used bio oil throughout my second pregnancy and also once a day since my youngest was born. I also sometimes use a "firming" lotion (think its by sally hansen) but not sure it does anything!

I am glad I am not the only one though

I do need to do more exercise though as although I am slim I am not as toned as I would like to be. so maybe that will help...

thanks for the advice though ladies

I don't think, short of having it chopped off and tucked, you can get rid of the sexy crepe paper bit under the belly button.

nowwhatdoido · 06/04/2010 15:38

I have crepey boobs, which is worse than a crepey tummy, because no amount of exercise will make any difference.

superv1xen · 07/04/2010 10:24

@ ladyoftheflowers - that is a depressing thought!

thing is my tummy is pretty flat, wouldnt go as far as having a tummy tuck or anything. plus I might want more kids which would undo it anyway!

how about those more expensive firming creams/gels, ie clarins and the like? anyone had any job with them?

-desperation emoticon-

and why the hell do celebs never seem to have this crepey skin business??!! i saw a pic of coleen rooney in a bikini the other day, her baby is only a few months old, wheres her crepey skin GODDAMMIT!?

superv1xen - I have had some limited success with Mama Mio Bootcamp for tummies. I say "limited" because it's excellent stuff whilst you use it regularly but the effects aren't permanent.

Like you, I am a size 8 and been left with very crepey skin on my tummy. I am considering a tummy tuck but am having trouble getting my head around the idea of having major surgery for elective rather than necessary reasons

BTW, there were some photos of Julia Roberts with a very crepey tum last summer. I also remember seeing photos of Kate Hudson with the same type of tummy a few years ago (it was in one of the "circle of shame" type features which, as you can imagine, did wonders for my self esteem ). However, recent pics show her taught and toned so I think she has probably had surgery too.

There is a non-surgical intervention called Titan which I believe is some kind of laser treatment on the damaged skin.

nowwhatdoido - I raise you crepey norks and a crepey tummy with added 'smocking' round my belly button. 'tis stunning I tell you! I used to have a very deep belly button but since pregnancy it's as shallow as most peoples...

Anyway, I've had quite a bit of success with vitamin E oil from capsules (mixed with a little carrier oil to thin it).

superv1xen · 07/04/2010 16:34

tulpe - what results did you get with mama-mio then?

its disgusting what magazines do to female celebrities - putting a "circle of shame" on them just because they are not perfect, grrrr it makes me so mad.

DTD - yes I have heard vitamin e oil is good too, may try it x

yes, tulpe, how soon do you see results with the Mama Mio? I've got some but never seem to get round to putting it on

tulpe · 07/04/2010 18:02

took about 2 weeks of regular use to see results with Tummy Toner and Get Waisted. My skin was much smoother and more toned but the effects wore off within a a week of not using it. It certainly wasn't a miracle cure but it helped the skin look less crepey.

I would definitely use again but more as a short term solution before a holiday rather than all year round.

MissWooWoo · 07/04/2010 18:18

gah! just back from my hols ... next time then

sparkle1977 · 08/04/2010 11:31

crepey skin here too.....vile stuff. Like someone else on here said I really don't think you can just zap it away with some wonder cream. I think surgery is probably the only way of getting rid.

such nice things we have to put up with after having babies.....ahhh....still, wouldn't want to be without my 2 crepe causing devils!

On the exercise front I do aerobics weekly but thats about it which include stomach crunches and the like but I can't see how that will improve the crepe ?? It may tighten muscles underneath but thats about it I think sadly.
