Help! I am 45 although I keep forgetting. What do you think of these dresses?

OK, OK with leggings and top underneath, or baaa don't go there?

this and this

I personally wouldn't put leggings underneath. Do you have good legs? I like the second one.

LadyGaggia · 04/04/2010 19:41

this one I could see worn with leggings

traceybath · 04/04/2010 19:44

Umm, I do think they're both a little mutton - its the length and flounciness.

traceybath · 04/04/2010 19:45

Like your last one but not with leggings.

plantwoman · 04/04/2010 20:01

sorry but no - particularly the 1st one is very short and would be sweet on someone in their early 20's maybe.
Personally I wouldn't consider either of them, i'm 36 and my knee's aren't what they used to be nappy knees as my mate calls 'em!
You need really nice tanned legs to get away with them as well (which of course you may have! - what do I know!)

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 04/04/2010 21:52

I've seen the last one and it's polyester - scratchy and sweaty imo.

The others I agree are too short and flouncy - second one is sweet but the skirt shape would make my lower half look enormous.

cruelladepoppins · 05/04/2010 11:55

Thanks all - I guess I already suspected the answer!

I really love the first one but it's the colours that do it for me more than the style - I saw it in the shop window and practically drooled (too pressed for time to try it on there and then). If only the second one were 6 inches longer at the hem I am sure it would suit me!

My legs are pretty good but only from the knees down (I'm a cyclist so my thighs are a bit "powerful"). I have olive skin so they are pretty dark even without a suntan, but I normally don't like baring them, even in summer, and usually wear tights or leggings.

Lady G thanks for picking out another suggestion, not crazy about the print but appreciate the thought.

Thanks all for your honest opinions, I think you saved me from myself

Sorry but I think bothof OP dresses are too short for over 35's!

Nothing wrong with floral dresses but maybe a bit longer.

I think justt too flouncy

Normally I say wear whst you like

But the floral, the flouncy and the shortness of the dresses is a bit too 'girly' for a certain age.

vesela · 05/04/2010 12:31

I don't think short florals with sticky-out skirts and esp. sleeves look good, regardless of whether you're in your 20s or your 40s. There are way too many of them about this year, too.

cruelladepoppins · 05/04/2010 17:46

Ooh, but I especially like the sticky-out skirts - make cycling easier ...!

OP posts:
OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 05/04/2010 23:12

Something about sticky-out skirts that makes the wearer look like an 8 yo girl, whatever their age.

At my age (46), I suppose it's the 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?' look.

vesela · 05/04/2010 23:16

fair enough, cruella! the one with no sleeves will make you more aerodynamic then

cruelladepoppins · 06/04/2010 19:59
Sad

AnyFucker · 06/04/2010 20:09

I am 44 and would not wear those

too "cute", too girly, too short

I imagine them accessorised with pigtails and a lollipop
