Online shopping v high street

I am increasingly buying stuff on the internet and DH is complaining about all the deliveries we are getting. Why do I feel guilty, I am saving time and money whilst not driving into town and parking..surely?

We only got internet last month - had managed for 2yrs without but 2 kids + no car = no grocery shopping!

so I love being able to get stuff delivered, dragging little kids into town is hard work.

my only problem with online shopping is that it's easier to spend - I have sooo much stuff on my Amazon wishlist! but actual items tend to be cheaper, I saved a lot on pressies for my DSCs.

I haven't been to supermarket in years for a full shop, the internet is def the way ahead, and sains do free delivery on a tue/wed/thu if you spend over £100..

I LOVE it at xmas, no trooping all over town ith kids in tow..bliss...cup of tea and click click click..done. If DH had to do weekly shop and xmas he might think internet shopping is a good idea..

ha ha, that'll be the day...

internet is always cheaper. unless you live close enought to walk home whilst ladendown with more than your body weight in food/clotehs etc. and you are iron hard when it comes to resisting offers. even if you have to pay for delivery, its cheaper than taking the bus/ driving, paying car parking/ buying stuff coz it seems like a good idea at the time/ buying pack of something or eother to keep kids occupied / blah blah ab lah.
alway s shop online. you get what yo need, not what looks good in the display.

I usually end up sending more stuff back than I keep but atleast you can order stuff from places not available on the high street or local to you.

beanpot · 03/04/2010 14:25

I am sometimes worried about returns policies online, I have had to pay to send boots back at enormous cost before now....

I'm a bit fussy about looking at something before buying. I've never bought clothes for myself online, for example, but I've got DVDs/wii games etc.

beanpot · 03/04/2010 15:07

Oh I've bought clothes, but I just make sure I can return them FOC or into store...I actually prefer trying things on at home rather than in a tiny changing room..

I don't buy clothes online too often as I find colours don't look as I imagined them. I also want to "weigh" the item to see if I'd feel it too heavy after a full day or if it would make me sweat.

I love buying books online, I spend too much on books.

squareheadcut · 03/04/2010 23:57

i cannot buy clothes or shoes online, it's annoying, i would do it if i knew it would look good - too much hassle to post back i reckon

Monadami · 04/04/2010 00:19

I love shopping online and rarely go in clothes shops anymore.

Online there are no crowds, I can usually find my size and I don't have to queue and be spoken to in a snotty way by a bored sales assistant.

I agree, I love online shopping, plus many retailers offer free returns nowadays..

Make sure you unpack the stuff, break down the boxes and stuff into recycling as soon as possible.

It is the boxes that are probably freaking him out, if my DH is anything to go by....

beanpot · 04/04/2010 19:36

Brilliant! He is always banging on about recycling and packaging too....what is it about men and the 'job' of recyling, you'd think they were saving the world with a trip to the bottle bank...
