Please please please tell me where I can buy fashionable trendy shoes for a little girl with very thin feet- EXCEPT start rite. My dd measures a start rite d width and is also very shallow footed. She has startrite shoes but doesn't enjoy wearing them as they tend to be stiff and uncomfortable for her. Have tried everywhere I can think of for narrow fotting and all the continental brands are still to wide- We have tried-
Bellamy
Petasil
Garvalin
Primigi
Naturino
Gbb
Aster
Ricosta
babybotte

Does anyone know any other brands which are slim fitting?? She is 4 years old and a size 9.

My dd3 (now 11) has the same problem, and we generally can only ever find one pair of shoes that fit, and have to accept that fashionable and trendy are highly unlikely.

I have found that some of the ranges you mention may have one slim, shallow shoe in the entire range, so you need to hunt out the shoe shop with the most comprehensive range. Dd's last school shoes were Petasil, and the previous ones Primigi. By chance we were passing a Geox shop on Thursday and found an ideal pair that fitted really well (she also has very narrow heels) so they were bought with alacrity.

In Selfridge's I was almost tempted by Prada but then saw the £145.00 price tag, so decided not to let dd try them on.

I'm afraid you've got years of ghastly shoe hunting ahead.

it is horrific. i tend to just get dd the same shoe over and over again. in fact i have to take a pair back today 'cos they are rubbing and hurting her feet.

startrite are about all she can wear adn kicker boots in teh winter.

onebadbaby · 03/04/2010 16:55

Thanks for your empathy- are kickers slim?? I have always been told they would be too wide in shoe shops so have never bothered trying them.. dd has currently a pair of ricosta ankle boots which have been lovely for her, but can't find any shoes to replace them at the moment for spring- and sadly the 27 is the largest size they do in toddler styles which are better than the older girls sizes in terms of fit- they always seem to be deeper and wider than she needs.

the kicker boots are slim fitting and are lace up so you can really pull them in

dd measures a c fitting so I understand your problem - she is also 11 so wants fashion.

When she was younger it was ricosta or the brand with the elephant?? Startrite never fitted. Clarks do make a c fitting but rare.

We still struggle but go to independent shops with a good continental range and try loads on!

good luck!

Kickers are far too wide for me and all 3 of my skinny footed DC.

GBB and Mod'8 might be worth a look if they are available in the UK, mine have had various pairs from them over the years.

onebadbaby · 04/04/2010 08:25

Elefanten?? anyone know where they stock these??

tibni · 04/04/2010 20:18

Yes Elefanten - I got them in a local independant shoe shop.

dd has a very narrow ankle which is our main issue. I find certain styles work better for her. She can never have slip on styles, the higher the better and while she was younger t bars - at 11 she really doesn't want them anymore.

onebadbaby · 07/04/2010 07:59

Couldn't find anywhere tht sells elefanten near us- we have ended up with a pair of bellamy shoes with an insole in to lift the foot a bit- not perfect, but ok.

mod8, we got her first pair in France and my DH thought he had misunderstood the price at the till. For sporty ones we found merrell mary janes were good.

Have you tried Superfit?? Not widely available but you can get them online, try www.shoeson.co.uk/kids-girls/brand/Superfit/15/. You can get good advice on this site too just email them - I found it really useful.

Have you tried Hush Puppies too? They have a unique fitting system that uses different footbeds to adjust the width of the shoes. It also allows you to have a different fitting for each foot which helps when 1 in 3 kids have different sized feet!

Also look for styles with 2 or more velcro straps to allow for adjustment.

Hope this helps.

I'd second hush puppies. DD1 has super skinny feet which are also very thin height wise (but not flat - most odd).

She has hush puppies and they put 2 of the footbeds in to make them smaller. Best fit she has ever managed.
