Help I have bunions, what can I wear this summer?

I have size 8 feet with bunions, I hate my feet. What sandals can I wear that will be comfortable and vaguely cool?

The main problem is that anything with straps across the bunion is a no-no as too uncomfortable. But exposing the bunion makes it look really obvious. Do I move to the Arctic or try to make the best of my feet? Do I paint my nails or make my feet as inconspicuous as possible?

What's your view on Birkenstocks? I'm mid-thirties, tall and slim with short hair. I tend to live in bootleg jeans and wide linen trousers in summer. I can't decide if Birkenstocks will look cool or frumpy.

Thanks for your views!

I have size 8 feet and I wear Birkenstock Madrids in silver and cerise pink patent in summer. With wide legged jeans, trousers, and shorter summer skirts. I think I look nice, and am generally, I believe, considered to be quite stylish. I don't have bunions though.

Would a covered toe wedged espadrille with ballet type ties do? I think the material would stretch to accomodate your bunion?

Something like this

Thanks! I like the Madrids but wouldn't be able to wear them because of the bunions. But I think the Gizeh or Ramses would probably fit. Do they look nice, in your view?

Part of me wants to wear lovely colours or silver, part of me wants my feet to be inconspicuous (last summer I wore tan Rockport sandals).

These are superbly comfy, and you can adjust the width as they are lace-up. Also in black and snakeskin

i had bunions until 10 years ago when I had them operated on- In fact I also had bunnionettes on the little toes too -so had all 4 removed in one go. Since then I have had only a few problems and none so bad as the pain from bunions. I live in Birkenstocks and crocs in the summer and anything like M and S footglove or ecco shoes the rest of the time.

There's quite a good selection from an Austrian company I saw on holiday called Fidelio, you can get them online from a website called www.meanfeet.com - good luck!
