Having a "uniform" can it be a good thing?

Am thinking about summer clothes and have just ordered two black maxi dresses from asos - one vest style, one spagetti straps. I was going to see which was best and send the other back but it occurred to me that I quite like the idea of a summer "uniform" of black maxi, my cropped denim jacket, havs/wedges/leather flat sandals and lots of bangles.

I know there are some celebs who just buy lots of the same item and wear the same all the time, usually men admittedly (and nigella of course)

Is this a good idea or terribly dull of me?

I kind of came up with a "uniform" for work, which has made my life infinitely easier. It consists of Black skirt, shirt, jumper.

I think for everyday wear, it can work. And then you can start doing more exciting things with accessories. (not that I do, but in my mind I do)

I think some of us probably have a uniform, mine would be jeans and t-shirt long skinny cardigan and boots in winter, with a scarf - I do vary this by wearing a dress once a week and maybe a cord mini skirt once/twice a week. I think I am quite boring, but haven't the inclination/time/money to become too obsessed with clothes.

I am quite keen on the maxi dress at asos, the vest style one they do in petite size as well - is that what you got redshoes ?

I got this one and this one

And I went into town today and accidently bought this one

But I doubt i will keep all three...

redshoes...is that new look one the same shape as the others...in the pic it looks flarey at the bottom..or is it straight down?
also what size are you and would you say it was about on size or big/small...thanks in advance if yyou dont mind answering.

redshoesnoknickers · 02/04/2010 18:06

I'm 5ft 8 and size 12 (big boobs and bum smallish waist)

The new look one has a loose vest top going into a fullish skirt it hangs really nicely, v. flattering, not a tube dress and not a sack, shows your shape but doesn't cling to the mummy tummy! Also a good length sort of ankle length so not trailing on floor but still def a maxi not a calf skimmer. I am v. pleased with it and considering investing in some other colours!
...the other 2 have not arrived yet so not sure how they will be - i'll report back once I get my hands on them

Thanks, I am size 8 exactly the same shape as you but short, I may try one. I always wear maxi dresses in the summer but was put off this one by the pic. I think I will try it as it's cheap and loads of colours , thanks

Does it not make it look like you've ventured outside in your nightie though? And you will swealter in black if the weather actually gets hot
