Help needed with extremely particular summer dress requirements.

Can anyone suggest where I might find summer dresses that are:

  1. Extremely plain, verging on unnoticeable - no patterns, flounces, detailing, not too short, not too fitted (old).
  1. Thin shoulder-strapped (hot weather)
  1. Blue or thereabouts.

I am rubbish at shopping and clothes and desperate for help. Can't face another summer sweltering in shirts....

dress" I'm on a roll - this one's fairly casual - looks crappy on the skinny model on the Video, but I assume you have more in the bosom department. Possibly a bit short ?

Hullygully · 01/04/2010 12:04

Orm - Told you were rash!!

Still - at least you'll have a dress, and you will look ravishing because you are tall and slim.

Cow.

Ta James.

Hully my love, I am tall and hulking. Think wardrobe, in a dress.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 01/04/2010 12:07

Hullygully · 01/04/2010 12:11

Jamie - I love that, but I'd look like a dwarf in a tent.

Hullygully · 01/04/2010 12:12

Orm - haven't you changed your pics? Didn't there used to be one of you +fam standing by a wall?

Have you still not bought a dress

My fat face one arrived today and it is fab!

OrmRenewed · 01/04/2010 12:15

Yes. There was. I lost it when I changed my name. I am fatter now

Jamieandhismagictorch · 01/04/2010 12:17

Hully - you mean the Maxi one ? It come is a petite length, but are you less sure about the Maxi thing ?

Hullygully · 01/04/2010 12:29

I'm not sure about anything.

Oh Hully < sighs empathically >

I will go now, because I think you are a bit bamboozled. However, I have just looked on the John Lewis website, and if you look up dresses/blue/daytime, there are several strong contenders.

Hully! Just buy a bloody dress, woman!

Stop teasing us.

Hullygully · 01/04/2010 21:52

I can't. I've gone completely to pieces. I'll try tomorrow.

There are too many now. I should have lived in Maoist China, I would have been fine with blue pyjamas everyday. Choice is hideous and frightening.

OP posts:
Hullygully · 01/04/2010 21:57

And this is the thing. No one believes I really only want something dull and unnoticeable as per OP. But I do.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 01/04/2010 21:59

hully - we believe it. But we think you are worth so much more. Mumsnut's last one was pretty dull

duckyfuzz · 01/04/2010 22:00

poor hully

I do think the patagonia one is dull

and the whitestuff one from mumsnut

will now go and find the dullest dress ever

Jamieandhismagictorch · 01/04/2010 22:03

I will be away for a few days now, dear hully, so you will have respite from my dress bullying suggestions.

Take care

Hullygully · 01/04/2010 22:10

Happy Easter one and all.

I very much appreciate everyone's efforts..I am just a bit hopeless on the getting dressed front.

traceybath · 02/04/2010 07:05

Hully you do make me laugh.

You know John Lewis offer a personal shopping service - you could brief them on your requirements and they'd then have a few dull blue dresses for you to try on.

Mumsnut · 02/04/2010 11:53

P'raps the personal shopper could catch a few episodes of Prisoner Cell Block H - to get the right vibe ...
