I know this is the most boring question in the world....

... but does anybody know where to buy men's plain t-shirts that don't 'twist' round after a couple of washes? I have a dream that one day I will iron a t-shirt and both side-seams will run straight down the side, rather than being half-way round to the front. Is that too much to ask?!

Told you it was boring.

Happy to spend good money if they're worth it. Have tried Gap, M&S and Next and no luck with any of them.

purplepeony · 30/03/2010 12:18

John lewis's seem to be okay- no twsiting.

KristinaM · 30/03/2010 12:23

if you are dreaming about ironing t shirts you need to get out more

DHs Cotton Traders ones seem fine. But they are never ironed. Mmaybe that's where you are going wrong??????

BunnyLebowski · 30/03/2010 12:28

I don't iron anything DP's t-shirts.

I wash them, dry them on the line outside or on a hanger over the radiator and I've never once experienced this twisting of which you speak.

Moral of the story is don't iron

oxcat1 · 30/03/2010 12:32

You're all clearly right. I only took up ironing as a New Year Resolution, and I can see the damage it's doing already....

Either that or my husband is naturally misshapen.

yep i don't iron anything either, infact i remember taking the fuse out the iron for something a few years ago. By ironing do you think you are making them too neat causing this twisting you speak of? I buy other half tee from fat face, next, river island and even primark/peacocks and never have they twisted.

oxcat1 · 30/03/2010 12:50

I've no idea where I'm going wrong! Other than by ironing, which I fully accept was a dark, dark habit that I should never have taken on....

Maybe all t-shirts do this? If I lay it out straight on a flat surface, the seams from under the arms don't continue down the sides, but rather gradually work their way round to the front fo the shirt. If I put the side seams straight, then the arms don't lie flat?!

Lordy - now I can't even figure out how to lay a t-shirt out flat. And I'm worrying about it. What has this ironing habit done to me? A whole new level of anxiety.

I know exactly what you're talking about and it drives me insane. Years ago i could get t shirts that were a tube without seams either side and they never twisted.

KristinaM · 30/03/2010 12:53

you need an Easter resolution that doesn't involve housework

BikeRunSki · 30/03/2010 12:59

I don't iron.
Boden T shirts don't twist.

miche8 · 30/03/2010 16:12

Don't iron, i think you are paying too much attention to the seams.
