But I'm fussy..
Needs to be big enough for a book, phone, purse and assorted stuff, then snacks/wipes/drink at the weekend.
Must close properly and securely, either buckled over or zip.
Can go over shoulder (not necessarily a long strap, but must not be an in hand only bag)
Must have compartments
Smart enough for work
Leather.
Durable

Willing to pay up to 150 for it (or a bit more if it was luscious)

I sort of have a picture of a lovely satchel (such as Kirt has in Glee) in my mind, but can't find one

Radley

I've got this, I got the medium sixe for £94

Do you like the Boden pewter satchel?

The fastening is magnetic, though.

V fab bags.

CMOTdibbler · 29/03/2010 12:31

I do quite like the Boden satchel - but only in red, and I guess it would get scratched to hell in a very short space of time. I travel a lot for work, so it has to withstand a lot of being shoved under plane seats and having feet pushed on it.

The Radley looks like it only poppers shut ? Due to the aforementioned shoving, I need my bag to shut really securely

Have you looked at the Osprey site?
I have just ordered Paris, but they do a larger one called Cannes, i think.
www.ospreylondon.com

If you register for emails etc they are currently offering a 10% discount.

You might also like some of the the Fossil bags on their site, or Oushka.

CMOTdibbler · 29/03/2010 13:37

Oooh, I really like Cannes. Have you had Osprey before ? Are they robust ?

I haven't had Osprey before but I know a couple of friends who have and they seem nice- I have seen the bag in the flesh but bought online to get the 10% off. One word of warning- if you fancy the very pale colurs, like mink or pale tan, don't. The leather is not super shiny and for some reason absorbs sweat/grim and marks easily.

purplepeony · 29/03/2010 14:14

grim? grime!

iamreallysilly · 29/03/2010 14:23

Look on amazon, they have lots of satchel style bags,

hulahooper · 29/03/2010 14:42

Lots of compartments, zip top... John Lewis have quite a few bags that might fit the bill?

CMOTdibbler · 29/03/2010 21:14

Nothing grabs me on JL tbh

Told you I was fussy !

These are gorgeous 'in the flesh' - especially the cobalt blue one which I have seen in the shop

And this comes in 2 other colours and looks geat in RL

Two bags I have hankered over in the last couple of weeks!

Blu · 29/03/2010 21:59

P.S In have the red Boden satchel, it is gorgeous, but probably would scratch fairly easily.

CMOTdibbler · 30/03/2010 21:49

I bought the Cannes bag. Very tempted by the Boden satchel, but couldn't bear for it to be all scratched
